Apparently some people have had success running some games with this on M33 rather than just GEN. Anyone tried this yet?

Some games absolutely require 5.50, others play on M33.

it works on m33-6 firmware, set the driver to the m33 driver when you boot the game simple as
ive got 2 psp's 1 runnin 5.50 gen and one running m33-6 for emulators tested it on both and both work fine. bothe the decrypter and the games once modified

Is the one with M33 which plays Persona a phat by any chance ?

Persona and Motorstorm work on my 3.90 M33-2 system software, I've got a phat psp.
Motorstorm needs the M33 driver, while Person uses the sony driver.
Both games have been patched obviously
Can't get Gran Turismo to work tho, so I might upgrade after I've finished with Persona

 Not unless you, I dunno, well, like homebrew? The GEN team refuse to put out a 1.50 addon for 5.50 GEN-B -- which renders 90% of all existing homebrew unplayable. Gee, thanks, awesome.
Most the emulators haven't been updated in ages and they all still require/run-on the 1.50 kernal - which 5.50 GEN-B is lacking. Until the GEN team fix that, I'm staying well clear of 5.50 GEN. |
The PSP homebrew scene just isn't that exciting for me, and most emulators i'm interested in require alot more power than the psp puts out.
I like homebrew, but I also like new games

All the emulators I have, and use often, work near-flawlessly (SNES has always been problematic, with the latest speedhacks all the games I play work fine) - so I'd rather not give those up, not just for a pathetic GT port (no career! YaY!) and a remake of a PS1 game (admittedly I really want Persona)

Well it seems even though Persona and some of these other patched games work on 4.01 M33, they still do not work on 5.00 M33-6 so it looks like I will need to upgrade to play it or wait a few days and see if anyone finds a solution.

How the hell can gran turismo work on 4.01 m33 but not on 5.0 m33 ? doesnt make sense.

Maybe they have specific anti-M33 checks, but directed towards the 5.00 version, lol.
Anyway, the GEN-B2 is just fine ...

I knew I should have waited as I upgraded to 5.50 Gen-B2 this morning. Hopefully the rumors hold true and they have 6.0 Gen ready soon so all this patching will not matter.
