99% of statistics are made up you anyway
+ not sure which games exactly look better than arma2? crysis? arma2 graphics are great and i'm sorry to hear that a 7xxx graphics card can't handle it |
Wow, you really thought that through! Let me give you a more specific example so that your two braincells don't scream in agony:
On Medium-High, let's say, FarCry 2 and Resident Evil 5 run and look better than ArmA2 on comparable settings. It's that simple. If some shit that, on Medium settings, looks like Battlefield 2 can't run faster than 10 fps on my PC, then it has serious performance issues.

The ArmA 2 engine is more or less the upgrade of the ArmA engine which in turn is a upgrade of the Operation Flashpoint engine so it does have a few flaws and some of the systems in it is a bit crude like the physics component (Static death animations and damage decals for example.)
Main performance problems seem to be either when in a city (Even if it's empty.) or during scenes with a lot of characters (CPU processing.) other than that I find that it runs quite well and it does look pretty good although of course it's not like the visuals are on par with some other PC "heavies" but they suffice and it looks quite good overall.
Can't say much about the EVO engine but it seems pretty capable from what codemaster has done with it since Dirt to Grid and then Dirt 2 (Console, PC still being worked on.) and now Dragon Rising, need to see it in action first though.
It also seems to have a more stylized art than the more clean and realistic art in ArmA (Or it's sequel.) with heavy shader works and a sort of greenish or yellowish haze of the screen.
(It doesn't look that bad either and does compete pretty well with ArmA 2 in the visual department at least.)

finally we get offensive...
are you just pretending or are you really THAT dumb you tard?
RE5 is a fucking rail shooter
arma2 doesn't look like bf2, not even on low
farcry2 is maybe comparable but doesn't have the view distance and is another fucking railshooter
i'm sorry that arma2 needs a good cpu+gpu combination of which you apparently have neither you broke sob.

I have to say you get a smoother gameplay and graphics up to par with ArmA2, for less computer power.
And less bugs aswell.
ArmA2 still got 528 open bugs, some pretty severe: http://dev-heaven.net/projects/show/cis

The term rail shooter is for shooters that are on figurative rails; as in you don't stray from a pre-determined path. Think about a train it doesn't sneak around the Serengeti looking for diamonds it would probably just drive right through it...
Back on topic is there any form of map editor? That was always a big reason I loved the first flashpoint and I was underwhelmed by Arma's.

Dudes gay story. Last night at 11pm called walmart, asked if they were getting the game, the guy looked it up (or so he said) and said theyd be getting it with their midnight shipment. He told me to come in at ~1 am if I really wanted it... decided to sleep instead, went there this morning and they didn't even fuckin have it, said they didn't even have an order in for it yet.
Not really that big of a deal, so went to gamestop when they opened, even they hadn't ordered it yet.. wtf? isn't this a pretty anticipated title?
And steam doesn't even have a preload for it, and it's also not out on steam until noon.
Yeah I know this sounds impatient but this is pretty much the only game I've been excited for in a long time, and all these businesses are failing me.

My local gamestop said they were getting theirs in tomorrow but that they weren't getting very many.
Shrug.
He said a lot of people were calling about it this morning.

you'd think theyd want any even slightly anticipated game in stock on release day. they're probably gonna lose a lot of sales to steam or piracy because of this

the most important phase for game sales is the first two weeks after release usually. Being a totally bugged release out of the box - especially if not by an already well established and trusted developer - can really fuck up the success of a game.
Sure, for a gamer who plays the game months later with erverything patched, thats awesome. But some games dont even get patches because they already sold so badly because of being bug-infested heaps of junk, which is kind of a vicious circle
