ArmA / ArmA 2 has co-op though not the campaign if I remember correctly (Might have co-op campaign in ArmA 2 though.) but instead a lot of custom map and game modes from CTF to capture the island to a sort of Warfare mode and more but it uses a cd-key.
(Also has dedicated server support and some form of custom made anti-cheat solution, unsure how effective it is as I'm not very active with multiplayer, with support for a large amount of people to play against or with.)

EDIT: If you crank up the settings ArmA 2 will however be more demanding so both games have their faults and ArmA 2 does have a few bugs though patches are being worked on (Haven't checked the beta patch progress or bug tracker in a while though.) but the developers are a bit split with their litttle stand-alone expansion project which will be a bit updated as well, on a side note porting ArmA 2 to that should be fully doable just as progress on porting ArmA 1 is going along quite well from what I've heard.
(Flashpoint was ported over to ArmA as well a while ago, not 100% complete yet but the basis are there from what I know.)

Loving the game - gfx could be better, but it's polished and good fun.

One complaint - how the hell can I get rid of the menu 'music' - that whining old bastard is driving me insane - sounds like he's vomiting in my face...

It's possible to unpack part of the data now, quite a lot to go trough albeit the only easily editable content would be the xml files and music .fsb files, unsure how to get the game to load the unpacked data though but we'll see, need to find out what can be done with it first.

Is it also possible to pack back the stuff? (Or maybe the game can read the unpacked stuff as well, like HAWX)?

So far it's just a so called "QuickBMS" script, works by merging all the 510 or so files together and then unpacking that larger archive, some minor bugs but it can be unpacked pretty well, tried altering some values like the weather conditions and appearance but notice no changes in the actual game, there's more weather files to alter though and it was a rather basic test. Smile

EDIT: Then again there's a lot to alter. Razz

Here's one of the two files responsible for the appearance of clear weather:

And here's the AI script as another example.

Go prone (lie on the ground) in a grassy field, and make sure all your men are also there. It won't see you. Anytime you hear that the gunship is close (either someone says "gunship" or you hear it yourself), go prone.

But why waste ammunition? It stays there for a few seconds and goes away. If you fire too much everyone hears where you are and come to you. It's better to let it pass.

I completed the first objective, then by mistake called in the extraction chopper. Didn't get on it so I could do the other 2 objectives, when I finished the third one (SAM missiles at the lighthouse), as me and my team are making our way back to the chopper I get a message that the chopper is RTB and we're on our own, and the mission fails. WTF?

The limitations such as 32player mp and 2kx2k Vs modes and also 4 player coop modes appear to be very much cosmetic, even in the editor you can set the combat area to any size in MP BUT it won't let you run it. So my guess is that the limitations can be lifted very much so on PC, the view distance in this game is really good.

I am disappointed about no Migs or F15s in the game, will hope for Mods to add them in later or a DLC.

I did it the same way you did but could get in the chopper after destroying the sam missiles.

This game sucks. ArmA 2 sucks. Nothing will ever have the same feel of the original Operation Flashpoint.

i didnt waste ammo really, was about 4 shots into the tail rotar is all it takes if your accurate.. Once a blade is not stable no more it should fuck up the whole yaw control of the heli.

And he didnt really just stay a few seconds he made 4 passes, then when I hit the little housing area and cleared it where there was a sam missile system there as well, he came back over the village, it was then i took him out as he was being nosey. Very Happy

Regarding the ammo though I did end that mission area with 2 rounds left Very Happy

I just point out that the automated savepoints sometimes do not work until some random enemy in the area is killed. Happened to me first during the first night spec op mission to blow up the fuel pump.

First try I got to save near the diversion attack spot and then I noticed a guy in there. Second try I saw the enemy before reaching savepoint and the game didnt save until I had killed the guy.

You didn't make a mistake. You don't get a choice. When you finish the first objective the extraction heli is automatically called. You have to go back near where you started and clear the extraction zone so it can land. Once you do that it will stay there indefinitely. As you hit each secondary objective it will tell you to carry on or return for extraction.

Also, that first mission is easier if you don't do the secondary objectives in order. Hit the one on the right and then the lighthouse. Then you can take the truck there and drive almost all the way to the one on the left side (easy one). Then you can "steal" the helicopter and fly back to the extraction point.

1) Which is the best sniper in the game ? Most battles are from afar, so ... is the M21 the best ?

2) How can I find ammo ? Can I get ammo from dead ppl ? They disappear too quickly Sad

There are ammo crates scattered around the map, contains ammo and weapons (EDIT: Example - First location I know about would be on the first map, next to the SAM site bonus objective location on a little hillside fortress guarded by two light infantry PLA troops, contains a launcher for the APC and a assault class rifle if I remember correctly.), for snipers there's light, medium and heavy versions with the light version being more of a scoped normal rifle, medium version a light sniper rifle and the heavy version a high calibre sniper rifle (.50 I believe, M107 or what it's name is for the US side, I believe it's called a "barret" can't remember the name of the PLA/Chinese version but it's similar, only used one time in the campaign on the next last mission.)

Yes, you can get weapons and ammo from dead soldiers (enemy or otherwise). I didn't know they disappeared after a while. Lame. Shocked
