Is there a way to change the FOV? It's really bad, like 60 or so. This is especially noticable indoors, it's like looking down a corridor... Sad

Thanks for the help fellas, I'm playing this coop with a friend, so I believe that queer got the ammo off the crate before I could. My ammo didn't replenish and there was no "ammo" option in the menu for me to select, I just took a new gun and it had only one clip in it.

Also, yes, the dead disappear in a matter of seconds, is there a way to tweak this ? Sad

Is there a guide for this game ?

P.S.: I changed my avatar, too Very Happy

The game is as much of a sim as R6 vegas or COD4 but then again ARMA II went for extra realism and it turned out to be a pile of buggy crap, OP2 is much more polished and a little bit more action oriented, it's still challenging and you're in no way a one man army

imo it beats the living crap out of ARMA II

oh my word - is the SP campaign really that short!! that's absolutely pathetic - like 10 hours to complete plus all objectives... why bother building an island that big!!

it was fun to play but what a joke...

because now you can go and get user created missions that take place all over the island?

anyway.

Operation Flashpoint 2 is good. It takes a few things from the original Operation Flashpoint but it's obviously simplified to work on a console and doesn't offer nearly as many possibilities as the original game or armed assault. That said, the game is clearly much more polished and is good for what it is, but it doesn't really deserve the name.

Yes, Operation Flashpoint, Armed Asssault and Armed Assault 2 were/are much more buggy but they aren't unplayable and OpFlash 2 has it's own fair share of issues.

So in the end I can't really say which one is better, ArmA2 or OpFlash2, because they aren't that much alike. ArmA2 is a nice military sim and OpFlash2 is a nice realistic shooter.
Kinda occupies the space between the original operation flashpoint(which is much deeper) and call of duty(which is much less realistic).

Overall it's a good game. I like it and I'd give it maybe a 7.4/10, but it won't replace armed assault on my hdd.
I prefer the deeper games even if that comes at the cost of more bugs. That's a price I'm willing to pay.

The only way you'd finish the game in 10 hours is if you rushed through and did only the main objectives and not the secondary ones.

And I don't know about the other missions but there's a helicopter in the FIRST mission.

So, for the unlockable content all that is needed is the BLEEDINGBADLY code, which unlocks the 6 FTE missions. The other codes are for unlocking the missions one-by-one but not needed, right ?

I completed the first objective, then by mistake called in the extraction chopper. Didn't get on it so I could do the other 2 objectives, when I finished the third one (SAM missiles at the lighthouse), as me and my team are making our way back to the chopper I get a message that the chopper is RTB and we're on our own, and the mission fails. WTF?

You didn't make a mistake. You don't get a choice. When you finish the first objective the extraction heli is automatically called. You have to go back near where you started and clear the extraction zone so it can land. Once you do that it will stay there indefinitely. As you hit each secondary objective it will tell you to carry on or return for extraction.

Also, that first mission is easier if you don't do the secondary objectives in order. Hit the one on the right and then the lighthouse. Then you can take the truck there and drive almost all the way to the one on the left side (easy one). Then you can "steal" the helicopter and fly back to the extraction point.

Thanks for that.

Still mystified as to why the mission failed at the end though. It's as if I took too long to return for extraction. It's not indicated that you have to follow any strict order in completing objectives (in fact you don't have to do the secondary ones at all), and as I did the lighthouse last it was a long haul back to extraction, which the game wouldn't allow me to do. Retrying mission and doing the objectives as you suggested and see what happens.

Maybe, but even in the trailers they showed segments of the player as a pilot.

Strange ... .

I'm not that for in the game yet (playing on hardcore) so I don't know, but still ... .

In the normal campaign you either control a PLA jeep or a US jeep if you find one, some extraction parts have you riding in a transport chopper as well and you will see some of the other vehicles used by the AI. Smile

EDIT: From the editor the following vehicles seem to be either for custom maps or some special unlockable FTE missions (Codes on page 25 and then re posted now and then.) or multiplayer.

Both sides have more or less the same equipment but with a few differences by the way. Smile

1 Tank
1 APC
1 Anti tank light armor vehicle
1 Anti air light armor vehicle
1 jeep
1 buggy (Also called a "fast attach vehicle")
1 boat
3 helicopters (Transport, attack and one other.)
1 truck
PLA side also has a missile launcher extra vehicle ("Sunburn") but it's unusable in combat.

EDIT: Missed a different loadout jeep, buggy and one truck. Smile

By the way, just renaming the intro videos isn't enough, because the game waits for a button. But you can use this blank bik video :
blank.bik
and replace these 3 intro vids with it :
\Program Files (x86)\OF Dragon Rising\data\media\ui\ego_sting.bik
\Program Files (x86)\OF Dragon Rising\data\media\ui\intel_sting.bik
\Program Files (x86)\OF Dragon Rising\data\media\ui\logo_sting_out.bik

Then the game just loads.

This game is just a giant pile of shit.

The clunky command system is woefully inadequate to command your squad effectively, especially at critical moments. What I just love is when one of your guys gets shot and you can't find him to heal him without opening the fucking map or exposing yourself to fire...in the meantime he's bleeding to death and the perfect marksman enemy are shooting you to shit. Then your squad members excel at getting themselves shot, and not immediately obeying orders to move, etc. And not nearly enough save points. The POV is fucked, it takes way too long to switch weapons and reload, I could go on and on.

Uninstalled and deleted.

Considering how long we waited for this and then you get only 11 missions with no driving of tanks & helicopters... well they can stick this game up their ass. The battles are just abysmal when in comparison to OFP 1 with just a couple of guys running around. There are more different weapons in any other Doom sytle shooter. SMAW + Javelin = that's it ? Get the fuck out of here.

-_-

You can drive a helicopter in the FIRST MISSION, just because you're lazy enough to not find it is your own fault.

Also you can control an APC in the 3rd mission. And you can drive tank in multi, which is free even for you guys who downloaded it, so go suck a duck.

Only one secondary objective in the whole game I didn't do - couldn't be bothered with the 1.5km hike.

Didn't realise there was a chopper in the first mission - other than getting evac'd by one.

EDIT - oh and I was waaaay off on my total time to finish the game - according to my stats it was 5 hours and 2 minutes... 34 primary objectives and 19 secondary objectives complete... 5 hours!

Wow and let me guess you can fly it and have absolutely no fucking objective to accomplish with it. And an APC, WOW just WOW maybe they should put in a mission where you pick up people and drop them off all over island just like a RL taxi. AND a tank in multi???!! Then why didn't they make a tank battle in single player just like they were in OFP1 ? Or make a Cobra or Apache mission? If they are leeching off then name they could at least do that.

Lol, I was just reading some opinions/reviews in the official forum and holy shit ... there is a lot of disappointment. Seems many of them thought that this actually had something to do with the original OpFlash or it would be a realistic shooter. Or that it would have a grand SP campaign

Or that it would be a good PC-oriented shooter and not a console port. And they certainly thought multiplayer would be strong, not this broken shit. And to add insult to injury, their purchase is useless, there is no cdkey for the multiplayer, lol.

Codemasters fucked them in teh butt Laughing

I'm curious to see the changes the patch will bring. Probably will fix 10% of the minor bugs.
This is a good thread with suggestions for some major fails of the game Very Happy
