I absolutely adored slingshot mage in BG2. The slingshots were pretty powerful, and combining it with almost nonresistant spells was epic win.
Mages were ultra-powerful in Baldur's Gate, especially towards the end of the game. Who can forget fireballing a mob of goblins ? The console would just fill with their deaths
I remember I was using a spell that created little meteorites which I could throw like a normal weapon. pwnage
It's pretty plain but they do have a massive collection of screens plus other info, not that I read the site but navigating the images is quite easy and it's very up to date.
Hm, any info about the achievement system in the game? I saw something about being online for them in a loading screen of the posted preview movie and i think it was the pc version. A day or two ago, the achievements for xbox were reveled.. So.. maybe games for windows live for PC? , could not find nothing on teh google
Could work like in Mass Effect I guess, unsure if they give gameplay bonuses though, heh.
(Pretty sure DLC and other bonuses are via EA's servers as well, unsure if it's possible to rip them but it should be doable, Bring down the sky was hacked and I guess Pinnacle Station is doable as well although so far it's been left alone.)
Mages in Witcher books were awesome. They were not only good with magick but also often quite skilled with melee weapons.
One of them even kicked Geralt's butt in one of the most well written fight scenes ever. And since then I always wanted to play mage who not fully relies on his magical prowess but more on actual strength and combat skills, but question is, is he really a mage then?
No it is NOt a mage. Its a walking tank.
Mages are frail by nature and must be taken care at the begginning, normally with fighter escort so they can learn and develop, then they become (if proper developed) the most powerfull char. With a "battlemage" you would have to disperse your level up points by melee, magic and possibly bodybuilding at the nearest gym, wich means by the time my mage was casting fireballs, your arnold battlemage would be learning to light a candle with is sword under is armpit. Pure chars are always (if proper dev) more powerfull.
Looks great, but I never understand what purpose such trailers serve. Creating hype I guess. Would be great if they would add such cinematics ingame though.
