"Their Diablo 2 D&D games"? What?

not knowing if its true or not, but i think he meant Diablo 1 , not 2 (D1 was a lot more "D&D looking , imho, with slower pace and and less enemies)

just a thought tho ...

I can't find a magic workbench anywhere in the second region. Crossroads keep only has a blacksmith and an alchemical workbench. Am I missing something?
Is there a way to up the cargo limit? If I send a cargo to Crossroads, can I sell it to a specific town from there or do I have to pick it up and go to a town?

Limitation of the game engine?

Do you even understand what we're talking about?

How is having small single room dungeons with three goblins in it an engine limitation?

Have you played the expansion?

Anyway, NWN as a whole did not fail. The user modules were great. The OC was crap, but the reason behind that is what you've stated in your post. The OC was just tacked on in the end.

NWN2 however has a rather hard to use editor, which explains the not so bustling community. The user made modules are slowly trickling in though.

Also your comment regarding how the Infinity Engine games were inspired by Diablo 2 is false. Diablo 2 came out in 2000. Shadows of Amn came out 3 months after Diablo 2. I doubt Bioware saw the success of Diablo 2 the week it was released and thought, 'Hey let's emulate Diablo 2 and make a successful Diablo 2 type D&D game in 3 months!'

Adding to that is the fact that the first Baldur's Gate came out in 98.

I said: All four games, NWN, NWN 2, IWD and IWD 2 were inspired by Diablo 2. My mistake. I meant NWN games, IWD games were in connection with maniacal combat.

I tried Zehir and bailed out ASAP. The most idiotic D&D game ever made. When I saw overland map with walking creatures and then you click on them for random combat I totally crapped out. This is supposed to be like Heroes of M&M? Stupid story, pointless trading, awful looking graphics for today, camera can't be controlled. Stay away from Zehir as far as you can.

Icewind Dale 1 was released before Diablo 2 so how the fuck was it inspired by it? And how were they inspired by Diablo?

And on Storm of Zehir; Graphics are far from awful, camera CAN be controlled. Haven't played that much so can't comment on story and trading but, wouldn't take your word for it based on what you said about graphics and camera. Wink

You know that NWN1 was announced before the Diablo 2 came out right? NWN1 was announced in 1999 and it had been in development for few years already before that.

And because you dont like SoZ doesnt mean its crap, its not as good as the OC or MoTB but its not as bad as you say it is. I run it on maxed out and it looks quite good. Camera can be controlled and I was quite happy with the story, finally a story where you arent supposed to be the only one who can save the world from total destruction and the trading is part of the story as you are trying to build trading empire and all you know. Its not as deep as in MoTB or OC but they never said that it would be. This campaign is mostly to see the new stuff they added into the game, it has more in it for a modder than just a gamer.

NWN was originally designed to be modular so that users can create their own modules and their own adventures. It was not meant to be multiplayer game nor great singleplayer story driven game. That is why original NWN failed in every department. User created modules were utter crap that no one bothered with.

I ceased reading at that point. . . your credibility meter hit Zero. Figured I would stop before it started heading towards the negative.

They're both basically saying the same thing but a bit differently, Atari is thinking about a third expansion pack for NWN2, must be a record aside from the Sims franchise taking into account the age of the game or perhaps the engine it uses.

Awesome. Obsidian does good work. Recently purchased all 3 because of the countless hrs of enjoyment they provide, especially in multiplayer. Looking forward to seeing what else they have up their sleeve for the game and its engine(which has aged quite gracefully I think).

Hope they will make it, loved MotB and SoZ. And its not so old game, just barely over 2 years
Even the first one still has very active modding community

Just to say that I'm not against the game engine or another expansions, it's a bit old but it still looks pretty good, performance is a bit choppy at times but the engine supports some pretty nifty features, take shadow resolution for example, most games uses 1024x1024 for high-quality shadows and a few use 2048x2048 or can be tweaked to use it whereas the current NWN 2 engine build can use 4096x4096 or even 8192x8192 resolution which is pretty fantastic but destroys performance on most rigs if set that high.

I'm planning on installing game tonight to play it coop with my girlfriend over LAN.
I've also got the expansions but i never played this game before.
Is it ok to install the game + expansions and start playing? Or should i just install the main game patch it and finish it before installing the expansions?

The expansions add some good things to the original campaign, like new classes. If you want the original experience, don't use the expansions. If you want the best experience, install everything.

The campaigns are separate, as for installation first the original game then Xp1 and Xp2 and finally run the auto-updater to get the latest patch installed. Smile

If the auto-patcher gives you problems, hit up the NWN2 patch vault over at

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Other.Detail&id=19

It's a life-saver. Smile

Yet it's a bit troublesome to find all the patches, and apply them in correct order. Therefore, here is the list for post-XP2 updating:

nwn2_pcx2_englishvofix_from1201541_to1201541
nwn2_pcx2_scriptfix_from1201541_to1201541
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1201541_to1211549
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1211549_to1221586
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1221586_to1221587
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1221587_to1221588
nwn2_pcx2_modfix_nx1_from1211549_to1221587
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1221588_to1231763
nwn2_pcx2_english_from1231763_to1231765

Latest patch also removes the CD check.

There's a mod that change the camera style. I don't remember the name, but if you don't find it I can lately at home send it you by mail.

The modder also made a version in which you could use the left shift as mouse2.
But never found the mod. anyway here's the original link, read it through maybe there's an alternative.

found another solution yeahhh...now RMB moves/rotates the camera and MMB is for the menu of an item/npc etc

For this you need AutoHotkey.
- Install AutoHotkey,
- Create a text file somwhere,
- Open it with notepad and paste the following lines :

WinWaitActive Neverwinter Nights 2
WinWaitClose Neverwinter Nights 2
ExitApp
#ifWinActive Neverwinter Nights 2
MButton::RButton
RButton::MButton

- Save it and rename it with an .ahk extension instead of .txt,
- Launch it before you start Nwn2.
