It's not a replacement. You can't play the old campaigns with the old characters. It's a sequel, it's not a replacement.

Because everytime they do a "Free Weekend" or they release DLC for their products, sales skyrocket. They can still make money by supporting L4D.
Things aren't as simple as you would like them to be.

I wouldn't surprised to see it remain on sale with a dropped price to sit alongside L4D2 rather than removed altogether.
They have confirmed they'll keep developing for L4d1 after 2 is released. Despite the drama queenitis no reason to disbelieve 'em.

Well it looks fun so far, and all the new weapons and melee will be nice to use, im so bored with l4d anyways barely any content in almost a year i need something new.

Nice video but for me it still doesnt change the fact that Valve screwed us over with the first game so im gonna pirate the hell out of this, not give another 60$ to them and laugh when they announce L4D3 6 months later!

test it? dont be idiotic, the demo is released to everyone on the 3rd this is just early for preloaders/orders.
whine if there aint a demo and bitch if there is. this will be a quality game just like the first, i'd rather spend my money on a quality Valve title then all the consolized shit thats coming out these days.

Have you even tried playing L4Dead these past months?
I was playing with friends yesterday and nobody had ping under 150 and for one of my friends steam even managed to completely reset setting in widows (such as his logitech mouse etc.).
I'm sorry mate, but if you think that's quality then maybe you should re-evaluate the word or perhaps use something more suitable such as quasi-quality.

Is L4Dead a fun game? Bet your ass it is.
Is it however a quality game as their previous titles? Can be argued.
This hosting crap and matchmaking crap in the game is utter sheit (IMO). The way games have inconsistant pings whenever you join something feels like I'm playing russian roulette, sometimes I can get a decent ping (100-150) but alot of times it's just terrible (300-800).
The way they just quickly jumped to L2Dead2 directly after the game hit the shelves says to me that I bought an unfinished product (since they managed to add so many things in the sequel).
But hey, these are just my opinions and perhaps my standard for quality differes from yours.
I'm in no way saying that the game is poopoo, however it does feel sub-par with what they could have released.

Dunno what you mean, sure sometimes you will join a server with crappy ping. But in my case i join mostly servers and my ping doesnt go above 20-50 ms. So i would suggest you to try these command stored in autoexec.cfg

I agree, but that's mostly because the game was developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve was mostly providing help with technical issues (the Source Engine, etc) and funding. 10 months before the release of the game they bought the studio and renamed them Valve South and they started polishing the game up to Valve's standarts. They even assigned the (by then experienced) developers from Team Fortress 2 to help make the game better (something which they did again for L4D2).
After the release of Left 4 Dead, Valve South was shut down (due to the distance between the two studios it was extremely challenging to coordinate the development of a game). Some of the developers moved on to Valve's HQ to work on Left 4 Dead 2, while others (and most importantly project designer Mike Booth) stayed back to California and started work on a new yet unnamed game which will again be a collaboration with Valve.
Since on various interviews it is said that the L4D2 team is 30-50% larger than the team of L4D1, and we know that a percentage of the original devs didn't join Valve after the release of L4D1 and we also know that the team that updates L4D1 is different from the team that develops L4D2 we can safely say that most of L4D2's devs are Valve employees and only a fraction of the original L4D devs from Turtle Rock Studios works on L4D2, hence the higher quality of the sequel since it's from the very beginning of it's development a Valve game.
I will definitely buy the game unless I get it for free (Valve's latest games get automatically attached on my account - at least so far)

I guess that explains why it felt so unfinished. However, I will probably still wait and see how L4Dead2 turns out before I buy it since I'm usually very cynical about these things (I'm actually overall cynical to the whole gaming industry these days).

erm yes i have, played vs and coop loads over the last few months, never had a bad ping and always had good games, i suggest your mate removes whatever is causing the problem as that is nothing to do with the game itself. i agree that l4d wasnt a complete package but it was an amazing new coop expierience, l4d NOW is what it should of been when released, but at least its a fuller expierence.
l4d2 has already got a good deal more stuff than L4D in its state now, so its a definate buy.
yeah, i was burned when this wasnt gonna be a dlc and when they announced a full price sequel only a year after release but you can sit here and cry about it or suck it up and get over it.
it looks like a solid game and value for money. THeres not many games i play a year after their release and the ones i am playing obviously deserve the money. |

I'm not crying about anything in L4Dead2, I am however stating an opinion.
Yes, I was wrong to jump to a conclusion thinking that the demo was only for the people who pre-ordered the game. But if I was right then they would indeed have hit a new low.
I personally do not think L4Dead2 is worth it's full price, not at all. I think it's basically an add-on that they are charging full price for. Now if you think that's ace and want to spend your money on it then there's no stopping you, nor do I actually care what you spend your money on.
And because you don't have any problems with the game doesn't mean that there are people out there that don't.

Dunno if it was allready mentioned, but the german version is cutted like everyone knows, so valve gives the germans a special gift for the cut and they put the css weapons in L4D2 ^^
