In my buddies game we found a shotgun which shoots rockets (but uses shotgun ammo). Had a big barrel in the middle and locked like a grenade launcher.

Later he got a ammo regenarating magnum with spread like a shotgun ^^

I was skeptical about random 'gazillion' weapons in this game as well, now I read one guy got a sniper scoped shotgun Laughing exactly what I was afraid of, I'll take 15 fully animated and different looking real weapons any day, I also heard many weapons look the same which is disappointing buy I expected as much.

I don't recall every weapon/item in any ACTION RPG game I have played that looked totally different? Lots of them look the same in other games with different stats.Sure lots of them look the same but there's a lot that look different as well. It surpasses most other action rpg games as far as the varities of LOOKS for weapons.
I dunno wtf to think about a game that is set in a comic book like universe with make believe monsters, outlandish weapon manufacturers, mutated bandits, and healing bullets not using anything be REAL lifelike weapons. WTF were they thinking? So fucking what it has a sniper scoped shotgun that got generated? That's 90% of the fun of the game.

Sorry bud. i didn't get that far. The only boss I beat was Nine Toes.

EDIT: wait, was Mad Mel the one that was near the town? You kinda had to run up beside it to him and he is like level 11 or so?
If so, we killed him but i wasn't alone. he was tough but we were only level 8 or so.

Finished my first play trough a couple of minutes ago. Took 20+ hours and I was at level 38 when the end boss died. Completed every quest, was a pretty fucking awesome game so I just had to pre-order it.

Going for play trough number 2 tomorrow, need to reach that level 50 with my hunter and get more epics!

Did the Normal Plus game mode open up for you or is that available from the start?

Yep it unlocks in the menu for both single and co-op play after you beat the game. You can even start play trough 2 with another level 1 player if you want.

Hope the second player that's level 1 gets a lot more xp if he joins up a 2nd play trough game so I wont have to start over again if i ever deicide to co-op.

If you're using the rocket launcher on your Runner, don't. That thing is a piece of shit compared to the MG. Just use the MG, drive around in circles and use the lock-on.

Got a question about weapons.. Things like Damage +10%, are they applied after the stats, or is the damage stat of the weapon with all modifiers included?

My god though, did the weapon generation exceed my expectations. It's gret fun finding those one of a kind weapons. Last night I found a triple-barreled rocket launcher with regenerating ammo. Also found a pretty great combat rifle with regenerating ammo and pin-point accuracy.

Okay - to get this back on track: about the game!

I competed it together with a friend last night - I was playing at the Hunter (Mordecai), and my friend as the Soldier (Roland)

Okay some basic stats about our playtrough:

Playtime: about 24 hours
Level reached: 35/50
We got the option to do a "nightmare playtrough"
Nr. of guns found - hundreds and hundreds!
Enemies killed trough out the playtrough: would love to say over 9000, but its more like 3000 - so get ready for A LOT OF SHOOTING!

Okay, more about the game itself:

Pros/really liked:
The core shooting is very solid - although I'm definitely getting this on PC, using sniper rifles against moving targets with a controller = not great.

The graphics are top notch, but to some extent i guess its a matter of taste if you like the cartoony style or not.

RANDOM GUNS! We found so many cool guns, from acid shooting rocket launchers, to a flachette-revolver that regenerated bullets (which was my main weapon from level 22 to 35)

The humor - if you are a fan of the old fallout games, you will like the humor in this!

There is RPG in my shooter! with its for classes, and 3 "specs" for each, you can play to game in a lot of ways - from the gunslinging hunter, focusing on revolvers, to the more melee oriented Beserker, or the stealthy Siren.

Cons:

While the graphics are cool, there is far too little unique artwork to go around. Most of your time will be spent killing the 3 same basic enemy types: Bandits (of which there are 3-5 kinds), Skags (doglike creatues), and Spiderants(a reskinned verson of the skags (almost)). Thats too bad! I know that the first DLC will include Zombies, but where are all the crazy space beasts? The giant robots? and so on.

Its all pretty much desert (and scrap towns)! I get that its a desert planet and all, but together with the monotonous enemies, all desert gets old. Why isn't there a terraformed junglepart - etc? (you will see a bit of snow at one time but thats pretty much it)

Not all RPG elements seem that well balanced - for my Hunter its seemed that the most viable way was the gunslinger, while the sniper and rogue part seemed fairly useless in comparison. The sniper path would be better on the PC, due to you having an easier time getting head shots with a sniper etc. But still.

Random guns are indeed random. For out 24 hour playthorugh i used one gun almost exclusively for half that time, just because i got lucky in a shop. While i was very eager to get the next better gun, it just didn't happen. But my friend got stady upgrades over the game. But even at level 35, the pistol i found at level 22 was still GODLY! And i doubt i'll find anything soon to replace it.

The last hour was a BIT of a letdown! Story and boss-wise.

Apart from guns and skills, there is very limited character customization (only colors and name), and you get no visible armor etc. You get a halo-like shiled and a classmod to equip.

Closing comments:
Even though I've been ranting a bit, I'm still itching to get back and scavenge for that one super gun, and shoot some bandits. The good definitely outweigh the bad. But atm i see myself buying this on the PC to do 2 or 3 playthoughs with a couple of friends over the comming months, and returning for the eventual DLC etc.

The game is good, but it is not the new diablo! The way the multiplayer component work, i would advise against playing with anything but friends - or else get ready for a world of ninja-looting, etc.

I would say this game is almost the perfect game for a lan with a few friends, its good - and with perhaps some added variety from added DLC it could become truly great

8+/10

I am loving this game as well! But I have to admit that I am disappointed at the variety of enemies that I WILL be fighting. I am level 8 right now and really bummed that I have already fought pretty much every enemy the game has to offer Sad I did fight some bat type enemy last night and killed them with my turret and scattergun. The game is so good that I am still going to finish it and look forward to the zombie DLC. Thanks for the review.

the % in the description are meant in comparison to the base model, so they are already included

Nothing. Absolutely NOTHING, is more satisfying than sniping with a gun that has the Explosive elemental property, and scoring headshots. Fuck do the enemies ever explode good in this or what?

Yeah I like Rolands skilltree^^ Figured he would be the best one playing alone Smile
For some strange reason the title are choosen right after you choose the first skill... so im a support gunner, even tho I have skilled mostly on infantry.

@Yondaime: You can use Sniper with Roland if you want too tho... I got different types of weapons in all of my (just 3 so far) weapon slots.

The only class other than Roland that I think would be worthwhile, would be the Siren. Always a free get out of harms way skill

...that makes you run faster, invisible, replenishes your health and deals fire/shock/corrosive dmg to enemies you touch plus if you decide to end it with a melee attack, it makes a shockwave that deals all kinds of damage Very Happy

so you're basically wasting the enemies while running away, and when the phasewalk ends, you're as good as new, ready to finish off the stragglers. not to mention the skill tree options that give you extra speed and shield regen every time you kill an enemy Very Happy

Deelix, that's probably because you're using a Support Gunner class mod, those rename your class.

Playing as a Siren myself, level 32 now. The phasewalk is kinda shitty for actual damage, but it has saved my life quite a few times.
