Sam & Max back from the dead? on GameSpot reports on rumors that startup German developer bad brain entertainment might be announcing that they have taken up the abandoned development of Sam & Max Freelance Police. Unfortunately, according to a statement on the bad brain website by the company's CEO: "I didn't tell Gamespot anything like what they wrote. They called me at night and asked me about the news posted on Aventuraycia. I told them that there will be an offical [sic] statement on monday [sic]. Well after that call I decided to post the statement earlier (saturday) [sic]." This is to explain the confusion between that report and the actual news they have posted:
Negotiations with Lucas Arts failed. We won't get Sam & Max 2 (not the code, the artwork or anything else)

S&M2 still dead... how is this news?
Sam and Max are about as dead as DNF at the moment, except the DNF team at least has the decency to release a few crappy screenshots once every few years.

If you had kept up with the news, apparently the game was nearly done and Lucasarts pulled the plug, now these guys are trying to get it away from Lucasarts and finish it up.
DNF is far from nearly completed.
EDIT: Oh yah, and S&M2 did release screenshots.

Isn't there still a (very small) chance that Telltale Games finishes Sam 'n Max 2?

If LA pulled the plug, there must be a reason for it. Either the game sucked, or there was no money in it. That or KOTOR, but that's another story...
In any case, the fact that LA is holding on to the licence is alread good news... if they weren't planning on finishing up, they'd off the licence for whatever they could get and be done with it.
I am looking forward to this game quite a bit, and George Lucas, if you're reading,
1. Finish it up
2. Stop making shitty Star Wars movies. |

Hah, not according to all the lead people who were working on the game. The pull was sudden and unexpected, they said the game was coming along great.
Lucasarts is just being a pile of dicks, they don't think any money is there, and they are wrong.
They think they can keep riding Star Wars the rest of their lives. |

at least, we know 2 things : the game will be released (of course! it's a fucking star wars!) and it *will* suck
