Promod also has it. More or less. Anyway, we could do endless arguing here.

Did petitions over the internet ever work? Are there any succesful cases? It seems utter BS really.

Doubt the petition was the real actual reason for the force unleashed to hit the pc. Probably they were a bit desperate on low sales and decided to earn some more cash on the back of the pc.

this may be the case. but if as many people as declared will cancel their preorder because of the missing dedicate servers, then we got 500K people signing a petition for the dedicate server.. maybe someone could decide to earn some more cash this time also.

Must be a great country if internet petitions can influence lawmakers.

It has to reach at least a million, maybe then it will end up as the num26 on the agenda at their morning staff meeting when they are eating donuts and drinking coffee (and laughing at pc gamers in the mornin' ).

The first MW, and every other COD title on the PC, had dedicated server support.

perhaps your english just isnt as goodness as mine
but yeah if its a radical change from how things have been in the past, then this is just one big dick-move by IW... a pity because i didn't buy the first mw, but i heard its mp was sweet and was intending to buy this one for its mp... no point now i guess. just pirate it and zip through the SP then delete and forget about it.
but can you explain WHY the change was made? how is it more profitable/easier for the devs to do it this way? and how is it handled, anyway? does the person starting the server host it for everyone?

they want complete control of every aspect of their games content. that is why they are doing this. it is a stated goal of many big publishing houses.

yes mw mp was and is still great.
and we all hope IW will give us the same great mp experience with mw2. they are just risking to upset the mw community by substituting the way pc gamers play mp with a certain matchmaking system known amongst console players. and since many of us experienced both,we know the console system really sucks.

it is p2p so yes, one of the players is host. In matchmaking this occurs behind the curtain so to speak, so you don't even know who the host is.

doesnt that cause stupid lag problems? i tried a f2p game like that, and id kill people and then id die a second later after they were dead... and people could shoot me before i could even see them. granted a f2p game is bound to have shitty coding, but would the same kind of shit happen with mw2?
also what happens if the host leaves? does it randomly pick a new player to be host? wont that mean pings will be incredibly random and erratic?

The main issues will be performance and network performance. There is a reason why Xbox games have such low max player counts whilst us people on the PC can enjoy games with 32 and more players easily.
