I still want to know why the Hitachi boots it on 1.51, and the others don't. I have an Hitachi myself and don't want to take any uneccesary risks.

in #fw it says Ix 1.61 is in development lets hope it doesnt take to long and they dont screw up now and it will support all waves in the future

You will have to continue updating fw due to Wave restrictions, I don't think they will drop that feature.

I'm not going to use this activate.iso.
I dont know but M$ can log this info right, so we should be able to tell the difference between an empty dvd dl or an xbox360 game...
I'm gonna sit this one out, play it on safe and wait for the new firmware.

MS shouldn't be able to check activate.iso since it doesn not log anything nor does it report a dvd to xbox.
PC: Yes. Console: No.

Tried to burn Fairytale Fights after I applied the v14-15 patch, and it worked fine on my iXtreme 1.4, so that seems to work for Wave4 games also.
Had a glitch in the game, where it freezed and the graphics started tearing, but also had that with Forza3 in the beginning, but now it runs fine, anyone know or have seen this before? The images are burned on Verbs and at 1x speed.
Another thing is that Fairytale Fights states it wants to update in the beginning, accepted that and it rebooted and said it had another 128mb update, but that didn't work, then it said dirty disc, but rebooted the machine and it started the game fine.

maybe a new dashboard update? i dno, i had the same problem
forgot to say that my game won't boot here 
i have a BenQ dvdrom

glad i stayed at 1.4 now - i'll just carry on patching the wave 4 games exactly the same way as before. i dont use xboxlive so dont give a fuck about being banned! and looks like tekken 6 is wave 4...therefore mw2 definitely will be and all after that etc.
m$ you seriously fail at life - you could have at least made us work to use a different patcher ffs lol

Putting in the activation disc isnt such a big problem ^^ Dunno how it would be with multi discs (like star ocean where it asked u to change disc just switching the screen and without saving... anyone tried it yet with wave 3 etc?)

Is it safe to update "backups"?

Don't if it's been asked but, for example, if you get a wave 4 game, original, will it work on your console? And also: my previews question remains: can you update a non-original game?
If the question are duh-stupid don't shoot, i got my console moded this summer so I'm fairly new to this.

You're hacked firmware will boot all originals, regardless of which wave it is.

So my brother's got the ixtreme 1.6 and most of his old games ain't running anymore. Would it help to downgrade (if possible) to 1.4 or something like that?

yep it will so long as your firmware boots wave 3 games - because all you're doing with the patch is making a wave 3 disc. just keep away from xbox live if you bother about such things.
im on 1.4 and the patch works fine for me with tekken 6 etc. big relief with MW2 just around the corner.
