Game was announced ages ago. It was originally in development by Brash, but they're kaput now, so Konami took over.
I hate the Saw movies, so I won't be playing this one.

No offense, but I don't really see the connection. Silent Hill and SAW are completely different kinds of horror. Silent Hill is densely atmospheric psychological horror, whereas SAW is simple (but effective, for SAW fans) tension-based torture porn (which always seems to have some sort of "message" about not wasting life, which I find to be really shallow, personally; about as shallow as old slasher movies that were supposed to be about teenagers remaining abstinent).
Besides that, the internal team within Konami that used to develop the Silent Hill games appears to have been dissolved, I'm afraid, so I wouldn't count on that specific talent developing this game.

only reason ill play this (doubt ill finish it, more like an install and play for 20 mins kinda thing) is to see what kind of gore devices the game can come up with - removable limbs, destructable faces... proper dynamic damage physics... soldier of fortune, 2009 style kinda thing
BUT given that im sure this is little more than a cash in, i expect the only gore damage we'll be seeing is a fountain of shitty particle 'plasma' effect looking blood splash, to mask a quick model switch to a predefined 'end result'. yawn.
but i am open to the possibilty that the game could be fun.. the movies (1 was ok, rest were meh) were average, but i guess the idea of figuring out how to pass challenges... the 'thinking' side of things, puzzle solving, if done right, merged with the atmosphere of the movies, could 'theoretically' be quite cool.

Holy shit took me awhile to find this (thanks to 3 letter title).
Here's a video preview, game looks fun. Kinda old school adventure game with lots of puzzles but also melee combat and gore.

Yeah, I thought it was worse, but I don't expect anything (positively) shocking. It uses the same engine as SH Homecoming, and I still have some doubts about the gameplay (especially the investigations and puzzles solving part) but who knows, maybe it will be a solid fun game.

Solid reviews. Despite my immense distaste for Saw, maybe I'll try it after all...
Correcting people since 2007 even if they're not wrong.

I don't much like steam rips myself but when it's the only option why complain? Take what you can get.

LOL Insane asylums are the flavour of the month, how original, why couldt they just have the house and warehouse from the first movies, Is a perfectly good setting!

To cut on marketing costs - no box, no manual printing, etc.
