I know but I only use paypal on ebay. Can't say I had any problems with deliveries either unless I count one ebay rookie, sent me something with Fedex, disaster!

Well yeah, Paypal is smooth as long as things go smoothly. Very Happy

But from what I've heard about their way of handling exceptional situations, I hope I never come across one.

Yeah, can't say I have any experience with that. But I see how it can be hard for them, basically it's your word against mine and somebody is lying, not easy to determine who that is.

I had proof of the code being sent and all that. I talked to the person online, told them to look at the records, they pay 100 bucks for something it gets sent, then 5 minutes later exactly it's an unauthorized payment?

And on top of that, when paypal investigates they wait to hear from both sides, I was in constant contact, the other guy never even bothered to contact paypal after he filed the claim.

To be honest, I don't ever recall an official announcement saying that they would. Just some vague forum post to which I never even saw a link.

Well you can say it was never officially announced, it was on the justin.tv livestream, i think it was on brandon's channel, anyways a dev joined and we had a pretty big Q&A, the quote itself is real, but obviously, as it turns out, he spoke with no authority.

Then perhaps it was taken out of context? Perhaps instead of "We will unlock the servers if there is enough demand" it was actually "well, I'd like to unlock the servers early if there is enough demand.. but...." etc etc

Actually, if you have the copy in your hand, no.
I was actually planning on buying it if I liked it but I'll skip now for the same reason I won't buy Steam releases. I expect to be able to play if I have the physical disk in my hand, aquired in a fully legal manner by handing over money in a store.

How can the publisher or the dev be held responsible for some store breaking street date? Go complain at your store. Rolling back activation date would a retarded move.

Don't care who is responsible, maybe gearbox ordered them to do it. No reason not to flip the switch on the server and release the game, after all why did the games arrive much earlier then the activation date, they are responsible for that could have distributed them 2 days before activation date not one week.

looks like the complaining is getting somewhere.

A 2K games responded on their forums and at least said they were looking into the matter.

Then someone posted this in the official Gearbox Borderlands forum:
"If that community manager doesn't come through, and the game isn't unlocked tomorrow, you can post your complaints here. If you're a US citizen, that is. See, selling someone a product that intentionally is designed not to work is what's known as fraud. If they don't fix this, complaining to the FTC is about the best way to wake them up.

Here's some information you'll find useful in the process.

2K Games

Didnt a suit get brought up about Spore along these same lines and wasn't it successful? i could be remembering wrong.

I always get a laugh out of the 17 year old wannabe lawyers that pop up Every time something doesn't go there way. And no Big Gun, not referring to you, you merely quoted someone else. Long and short of it, it is Not fraud, the game has not been released. Otherwise, following the same train of thought, everyone in the US can sue Steam for Every pre-purchased and preloaded game.

As to 2K "looking into it", well I would say that was a nice meaningless statement to make seeing as there are only 2 working days until the game Does release and then this is all moot.
