flashpoint/arma2
i would say RPGs(proper ones) and adventure games, but those are too distanced from what asscreed is trying to be whereas an evolution of the gameplay mechanic with progress like in the games above could have well been implemented for the game concept
personally i didn't mind it that much
if a fighting mechanic is actually implemented this time i will probably enjoy it
i would like some actual real choice in the assassination though
you know, like in hitman or thief you could sneak into a location and do X, Y or Z to kill the mark rather than massacre the entire city

"Ubi just updated their Twitter to say AC2 will be delayed to next FREAKING year on PC for quality concerns."
"Of course, as discussed in the other thread, one of the head developers already said this was being done for piracy concerns."
Busted! The truth comes out at last
Interesting discusions going on in there:
Point taken, however most consumers just don't realize that adding these things is a LOT more work than enabling some options and forcing it. For one thing if your engine isn't made for it you are going to miserably fail every step of the way until you resort to cutting back on a large amount of details just so you can guarantee the framerate.
So which is the better solution?
As for the rest, well this is really the chicken and egg conundrum at play here. Find a solution that destroys piracy for good and I can promise you all major publishers will come back flooding the PC market with high end releases. Some have tried to implement their own solution including Ubisoft and as with most things the first few attempts were hit and miss, and everyone got flak from it. The industry is still trying to find a good distribution system for legit copies, let alone fight piracy so things are going to change exponentially in the future still.
For more on the subject check out the latest talk by Square Enix head honcho at TGS yesterday. The next revolution in gaming is the pricing system, or so he says...

Gamestop date is March 16. This is similar with original Assassin's Creed. It was well worthy waiting 6 months for RE5 on PC so hopefully they'll do the same with Assassin's Creed II.

Like the latest Star Wars game, the PC is just not powerful enough to handle the game. They simply need to delay it so PC hardware can mature a generation. Perfectly logical me says.
