I'd play it right now if it wasn't for the crash. Gotta see if it's some driver issue with win7 since I couldn't get steamslug to work(even with a crack) and the dark mod crashed too...getting f*cking annoying...

Still I didn't do the quest you are on,so I can't help you. And on my normal exploration trips I haven't seen the fret saw+(then again if it's a crappy gun,I could have just left lying around Very Happy )

And no reviews of the english version. But I suspect that when a gamespot review surfaces, this will get a solid 4(knowing GS that is). Very Happy

Edit. And some OT:
Where the f*ck is The void...it's already out on play.com(can't wait til next week to get a copy). Crying or Very sad

Goddamn it Sad So you mean I have to make a choice? I don't give a shit about gutting this Master like a fish, but he says "I have no jobs for you now, if I get any later - I'll let you know" - which leads me to believe he's going to offer more quests, or be part of one himself.

Ah fuck it. You know what? Time to go hunting Twisted Evil I'm getting that bloody gun back.

Thanks bud, appreciate the help Smile Oh and yeah, it's a shitty gun - but "rare!" apparently, according to both quests.

=Edit=

AHAHAHAHA.... shit. Seriously, that's just fucked up. Spoilered as, well, it's a spoiler - but I found the solution.

Because it was part of a quest that I had. I don't care about the gun, it's shite compared to my Knacker SMG Laughing Hell.... it's shite compared to Rat SMGs too.

OT, but;

and the dark mod crashed too...

Join the club Sad I was looking forward to trying that, but it refuses to load for me. All other D3 related stuff works perfectly, but TDM crashes when you try to load a mission, with the atioglxx.dll error. It can't be an ATi issue if every other piece of Doom 3 software works, it's something with this mod and Win7 or ATi or whatever Sad

I do remember one quest where I had to fetch two weapons for this guy in order to get the location of a weapon stash...wonder if it's the same one. Very Happy

OT continued:

Ya,I heavily suspect all the crashes are results of win7 drivers. Bet dark mod, steamslug and EVEN planet alcatraz would work on XP and maybe on vista.
Let's hope it doesn't crash for you too...

Bleh the combat looks beyond pathetic in the videos... Should've made it turn-based, then the poor response animations and unrealistic damage from weapons wouldn't have mattered nearly as much.

When I said all the crashes,I meant with different games.
Planet alcatraz only crashes once and always at the same spot which is why I can't play it anymore. I'm eager to see if the game crashes at the same spot on different OS or is just my fault that it crashes.

And I'm on Win7 64bit too...

Chuchundra Shotgun (Woodpecker SMG as backup) + Heavy Pipe Rifle (Woodpecker SMG as backup) + Knacker SMG (Katana as backup)

That's how I roll, baby! Starting to get "Difficulty: 10" missions now and, holy shit, they REALLY are tough. I especially fucking hate flying enemies. They swoop down and only attack the head, doing major damage - worse is that if they crit you, and they will - often, it's an instakill and one of your team-mates is out for the rest of the mission.

NOT FUCKING COOL, 1C GAMES!

Personally, I reckon it IS worth a purchase - just as long as you can ignore the terribad voices.

I was thinking it would spread (Along with Scorpion Disfigurment) but it never did, funny.
(I wasn't the one who distributed the game by the way.)

Then again they're pretty low profile but I've had fun with both of them. Very Happy
(I'm running around hitting people with a "crowbar" though it looks more like a large iron pipe, need more ammo but I've gotten some decent firepower as well once I find more shells, messed up with 12 and 16 gauge buckshot as the 12 gauge is for bigger ones and 16 for smaller ones and not the other way around as I first though wich complicated things a bit, haha.)

*laughs* My stepfather used to hunt small game, so - luckily - I knew which gauge was smaller<>larger (16G has 16, small, pellet in each shell. With 12G there is 12, larger, pellets)

I'm still having a blast with this game, got all four team members now and we're kicking arse! Two members with Assault Rifles (saving up for the AK47-alike Razz) and two with Unique shotguns, one is the St Trinity, a triple-barrel shottie, and the other is a quad-barrel one, which name escapes me.

It's in the manual, that four-barreled thing is supposedly very unique and called "Breaker", guess it's amongst the best in the shotgun class.

EDIT: Aside from that the rifle "Mama" and "Achtung" look pretty sweet.
(14mm with one being a semi-automatic sniper and the other a assault rifle with a 100 round magazine.)

Energy weapons would be fun as well. Very Happy

That's the one! The Breaker Very Happy It's fuckin' sweet, man, super damaging - though it eats through shells like nobody's business Sad

My other two guys are packing Vampire Assault Rifles. I was going to get the Grenade Launcher attachment, but it's too bloody expensive - and would end up doing more harm than good, as enemies always seem to close in fast. My team-mates, with this game's horrid AI, would shoot the grenades and end up decimating my own party Very Happy

Holy SHIT! I just pulled off a mission to take over a tobacco farm - and by the time I'd finished, I'd amassed enough loot to sell for 2,000,000 gold coins Very Happy Laughing I could have a LOT more, easy 400-500k, but ran out of inventory space Crying or Very sad All the rogues were packing Steel Mesh underlay and Cuirass armour, as well as Heavy Pipe Rifles and various other super Assault Rifles/Shotguns. That was a lot of loot and just too little inventory space Sad Oh and a mine-disabler armour too, called the T-Suit, which sold for 175,000.

There's a doctor in the South City who offers injections for 1,000,000 coins - so I saved first and checked it out. ONE injection for ONE stat and only ONE character, costs 1m coins and only increases a single stat by one point.

That was most definitely NOT worth it. No chance.

I guess it might be worth it for one of my other team-mates, who have 6 Str. When they take a critical wound, and they do - often, they drop 1 Str point down to 5, and that is insufficient for wearing Cuirass Armour, so they drop the bloody armour on the ground.

Grrr.

I guess it's worth paying 1,000,000 to give them 1 extra Str point as a safeguard against that in future battles.

Is this game any good?

What about the nonlinearity listed under the features? Is it really there (freedom of choice/choices and consequences/ability to approach situations differently/etc.)? Is it like Jagged Alliance 2, meaning a tactical game with strong RPG elements (I remember in JA2 you were allowed to roam free whenever you wanted, talking with NPCs and solving a lot of sidequests).

If you can stomach the incredibad voices and ill-fitting text (the text almost never matches what people are saying Laughing) and lack of any real tactical options; then yes, it's very good.

This part is true enough. There's TONS of quests (probably in the hundreds, if I could be bothered to count them all in my log) and the entire world is free roam, allowing you to go pretty much anywhere and do anything. As for the tactical aspect? Uhh... no. Not really. I'm about 20hrs in and the only "tactics" you have to worry about are making sure your dumb-ass team mates don't shoot you instead of the enemy Razz

If you read back a couple of pages, you'll see I rage-quit after just starting the game (god those voices are insane....) but stick with it and you'll have a massive team-RPG that should last you quite a while. You can play in real-time or you can pause the game to issue complex commands to your team, and to deal with retaliations from enemies. It's not turn-based like JA or FO, however. Think of it more like KoTOR.

Oh and a piece of advice that served me superbly; STEAL EVERYTHING!! Very Happy Seriously, almost everyone in the game can be pick-pocketed - so I strongly recommend putting a shit-ton of points into Theft on your main character (NPC alies can't pick-pocket, though they can pick locks - it's just easier to have your main do everything) so you can open doors/chests and pick pockets whenever you want. Overseers can't be picked, but most anyone else can - and you gain exp for your whole party based on the price of what you steal. Sometimes guns can't be stolen as they're being wielded by the NPCs, just try anyway.

I must have gained at least 10-12 levels, and earned so much gold it's impossible to tally, just from pick-pocketing and stealing. There's no penalty for failure either Wink

Quite a few, surprisingly, and you get to choose perks every 3 levels too (though each perk requires a certain number of skill points to unlock, and you get one SP every 3 levels)
