You have so much options to click! So much power! I've become mod on my uni's forum, and it's so cool grinhurt From banning, seeing all kinds of subforums, stickying stuff...

Ahh... I hope I won't become nazi-mod grinhurt Ofc my forum has definitely less users compared to this or some other I'm on, but jerks come, and spam attacks.

There was this guy last week who asked that we check his "theory". He said that there was some kind of "dark light" which is darker then dark itself (?! wtf ??) and can penetrate through anything!! Omg we laughed so much... Oh and he insisted then when you have tides that the earth (the soil) is going up and down, instead of seas Laughing

Oh I will have so much fun cutting down cooks like that Twisted Evil

I used to be a moderator somewhere with a lot of traffic, it got a little tiring sometimes to take care of spammers, rule breakers and everything. I had to log in 2-3 times per day and check out the reports etc and I stopped casual posting, too.

Being a mod gets tiresome after sometime, I used to be a mod at a really big assed forum, I haven't been on it since early 2008 and even before then I became a lazy mod and just stopped giving a shit completely, I logged back on few weeks ago to see what's up and lulzily I still got the mod status, seems like the admin is too busy racking up ads revenue to give a crap either.

i used to think being a mod was cool, then i grew out of it Very Happy

used to be a mod on a major PUB warez forum... then i realized i was in charge of babysitting a bunch of fucking dumb shit children, and said fuck this shit, and quit... no one needs that kind of fucking aggravation... if i hadnt have quit id have banned the entire fucking user base.

and fyi all mods become psycho nazi-mods. its unavoidable, and you WILL eventually be acting like a tosser over the most insignificant shit, just because you can. dont tell me you wont, EVERY mod does it. that doesnt really reflect YOU so much, just reflects how people generally act the moment theyre given the tiniest bit of power... but regardless, it'll happen to you before long, same as it happens to every mod.

Just be cool for a while till they accept you as mod, then after a couple of weeks or a month cut them down one by one, make sure they are divided.

Never directly confront someone to ban him, always step into an existing quarrel and take the other guy's side, then ban the enemy for a few days Very Happy

Just don't be overzealous to "prove your worth". When people new to modding get "teh powah", they have an instant urge to ban as many as possible or to delete posts or to intervene in everything so they could appear worthy of the moderator status. Awful habit and totally unnecessary. Smile

Well now since I have the ability to see the "operations canter" I see that admins were really busy trying to improve the forum, so I wouldn't say that if I were the admin I wouldn't have to do anything...

Cant you just setup a forum, generate 200 accoutns, make spambots and then make yourself mod on your forum Very Happy Very Happy Surprised

Anyway, enjoy your mod-life but some years from now, in retrospect, it will look rather insignificant in your life Wink

I'm admin at a forum with some thousands users.
It's fun the first days, then it gets stressfull.
Then you just make more people moderators so you can relax and do nothing.

I hate you.
