Town of "New Haven" near scooters garage, yellow barrel near the corner of the shop near that scarred lady's office, jump on top of it and then up the little roof and then from there on to the other roof, there's a red container there with a chance to give really nice gear and even Eridian based weapons.
Other chest is right in front up a pair of stairs where one of the generators were located, jump the wooden plank to the balcony and open the normal white container for a new batch of weapons (Range from white to blue quality so far.) and then jump on the little roof (Made of skin or cloth.) and look towards the building again and you should see another red chest at a small balcony that can be reached either by a run jump or jumping on the explosive tank under it and up the thin fence next to it and then up to the chest.
Jump down again and near the signboard and the little robot there's a NPC idling around close to a shack with a hole in it, go trough this and another white chest will be inside (Need to crouch.)
Leaving that you can go to the side of the doctors building and find a semi hidden ammo container. (There's another on amongst the junk behind the building.)
The two red contains also have a chance to give class mods and shields plus nearly any weapon type (From green to dark orange and a small chance of "pearl" and eridian gear.), the two white containers mainly give pistols and snipers with the occasional shotgun from white to blue item quality rarity.
Saving/Exiting and returing will reset the chests so grabbing a large amount of gear is quite easy with a bit of time, higher levels yield better items.
can anyone play online? I cant seem to join any games anymore? Just curious, i have the game in its wrapper still and am going to install it if i need to for online play.

theres actually 2 beter crates, if you reach lvl50 and are on Playthrough 2, use this instead.
Quick Jump to 'Crimson Fortress'
Run back into The 'Crimson Fastness'
Go down the ramp, and too the left will be either 1 or 2 weapon crates, these have a much higher chance of Alien, and Legendary/Pearl items. Then exit and reload you will auto reload back in 'Crimson Fortress' .. The speed this game loads in, makes this pretty easy to do.
NOTE: Its much better to do these Chests including the ones JBeckman wrote about at lvl 50, a much impreved chance for good items.
Lvl 50 3 Chests @ new Haven, 10 Reloads, 4 Orange(42 to 48lvl range), 8 Purp, various blues/greens
Lvl 50 1-2 Chests @ Crimson Fastness, 10 Reloads, 5 Orange(47 to 50lvl range), 12 Purp, various blues/greens.
So not much in it i guess, but still a slightly higher ilvl, ive had the '101101 Cannon now about 5 times, and every time it was an increase on the previous version, and the ilvl was 1 lvl higher.
On a side note, dunno about anyone else but after completing the game on the 2nd play through i was left a little disappointed at the drop chance, it started really well, lots of great stuff, then by Dahl Headland, it basically went to shit. So did the last few areas with a few friends, damn was some real epic battles just to kill trash!!!!! I now DETEST Spiderants......

I'm level 19 now, going to face Sledge. I assume my level is high enough? Loot is crap in my game btw, I have no idea why. I;m still using a combat rifle and revolver I found at lvl13. I guess I'm unlucky
how does the iron sites/scopes work in 3rd person?

I did it at 16, kill all the minions first, then walk him back to the doors you enter, stand half way in and out with him directly in front of you and you'll be fine
Heh respecced into the Bloodwing tree just for kicks, and the increased drop talent gets pretty silly results:
Spoiler:
I wonder if the talent stacks... That is, how it would be with 4 hunters, everyone with the talent maxed out.
Pretty useless really since you never really have a shortage of cash, and I don't think it affects weapon chests (still need to try, but I'd think not).
The daze talent and Bloodwing hitting multiple targets is brilliant for killing regular mobs (so easy to headshot when they're dazed), but I can see how this talent might have some problems against bosses... This could probably be pretty good for grinding loot once you've beaten the second playthrough as well tho.
Un-fucking-believable. For the first time in like 10 levels I get a sweet legendary drop - from what little I saw from the stats it was great, a sniper rifle. I'm temporarily using my old Logitech kb with the sleep button near ESC... So yeah, I hit the sleep button accidentally and for some inexplicable reason the computer decides not to recover, no matter what I try. Have to reboot the computer, and so the rifle is gone. Awesome
I'm just glad I finished the first playthrough before I picked up Torchlight, because that game is insanely addictive!! I can't seem to put it down long enough to even get Force Unleashed installed >_<

Indeed. I was wondering about the same thing. How, in the name of all that is holy, can he play both Borderlands and Torchlight?
It does seem like Torchlight was made to push all the right Sabin pleasure buttons.
BTW, played Borderlands for the first time in coop with two of my mates and god damn it was fun. We played for over six hours straight. Suffice to say we were all knackered at the end of that session.

It really does, man! The game is just sublime - easily the best €18 I've ever spent on a game, that's for damned sure.. I just can't stop playing it!
