Any advice on getting rid of the stutter?

The framerate is fine (50+) but the stuttering is really annoying.

I turned on "timeslice shadow update" and got nice FPS boost as well as most of the stuttering disappeared. All the other settings on ultra high.

Very nice game, 3 RPGs in 2 days, sick Very Happy

Well that settles it then! If the option for "timeslice shadow update" is there, then it has the full contents from the German 1.2 patch.

wtf. After the intro movie. When you get to the character creation part. There's nothing, it's just a gray screen, with a character creation menu, wich works . But the game won't show anything. When i skip it, after the cutscene there's a dialogue. Can speak/hear the dialogue. but can't see anything. It's just a gray screen. WTF! Any suggestions ?

Game is clearly optimized with the patch (I played pre-patched german version).
There is major improvement in textures and character models. With timeslice shadow update enabled there is no stuttering at all, maxed out all settings except shadow on high, 1680x1050, vsync forced, on the old 8800gt 60fps with occasional drops to 55fps on battles. Now back to Dragon Age...

Is the hacknslash at least as good as risen, where the combat gets better as the game advances, or is it your typical same ol sword stroke over and over?

Same sword stroke over and over .. but the feel, the atmosphere, the music, the gameplay all make up for apparently a lacklustre combat scenario. Plus... hello? DRAGON FORM!

This. I loved Risen, tons and tons, but Divinity 2 is far better in every way (perhaps less on graphical quality, maybe)

I've tried both with and without the "timeslice shadow update" thing. Makes no difference for me Sad

There has to be others than me having this stutter problem? I have a fairly average computer with all main-stream components.

Like I said before... the framerate is excellent. I don't have any similar issues in any other games either.

I know what you mean, I also have good fps but there's some stuttering, nothing game breaking just a little unpleasant. Game engine is not the best so just deal with it.

Well...after 1 hour...donno...I like the story so far, even though I expected a longer and nicer intro plus some of the jokes etc..but the combat is DISAPPOINTING... plus it really lacks in detail..I mean..I clicked a chicken leg ( well you couldn't even eat raw meat in Risen.. ) and my health meter went up, no animation, nothing...oh come on.

I broke some barrels and the animation / effect reminded me games of the year 2000 or sth.

While characters / environment textures look nice...the animations are so basic at many things.

Oh..I kill animals / goblins and..instead of weapons and bodies lying around, I see some shiny bags floating in the air or sth, waiting for me to collect em?? Who am I? The fucking pacman??

In addition....the interaction with people /environment is very very basic.

I donno...I expected a LOT MORE..I can't see how this game is even close to Risen. Apart from the story that seems nice so far + some detailed textures ..ALL other things I saw were not even close.

I'll give it more time..but no more high hopes..

Div 2. Shorter and less story-heavy, more action oriented... so you'll plow through it (and enjoy it nonetheless! Stunning game, GOTY material) quick and be able to move on to DA:O

I had the same problem but after restarting my computer the game was fine.

You need to turn off the option that says something about interface being scaled to desktop resolution - it's the first one on the top of graphics options.

Doubt the stuttering has too much to do with your gfx setting. Seems to be the game itself. Reminds me of Gothic 3

My ONLY complaint (this game is amazing, and a DAMN good sequel to the original(s))

is.....accepting dozens of side quests and not having the slightest idea where to go to complete.

Hmm, thx for the honest review m8. I'll skip this one and check Dragon Age (if it's not the same that is)

Update: nevermind, Dragon Age is point n click, hat that. Waiting for a proper Risen replacement then. I have tried playing The Witcher twice but couldn't get into the game, maybe I'll try again.
