I disagree. Both movies were bad but T3 at least tried to be a Terminator movie (and failed) while TS didn't even bother, it felt more like a Transformers spin-off.

Yeah, it's just that T3 gets huge minus points from me because of the crappy-as-hell replacement actor for John Connor (name escapes me atm, but he looked like a monkey, not the savior of mankind) and from the fact that it's basically a shit remake of T2 - the plot is virtually identical but there's none of the elements in the movie that made T2 the classic it is.

The actor's name is Nick Stahl and he was so much worse than Furlong - agreed.
However, for the 100th time, IMO the ending in T3 was great. T1 and T2 both ended semi-happy (and the T2 alternative ending was full blown happy ending) and T3 was definitely not even close to semi-happy. War starts, people are fucked and are being killed with nukes. The only good thing is John and Kate are safely hidden in a NORAD bunker.

t3's ending sucked for one reason... its like smacking people upside the head with a solid conclusion... it was utterly unnecessary. the ambiguous ending of t2 was brilliant. it said maybe they did enough to change our fate.. maybe we're doomed... it was a perfect ending.... the message was always about hope even in the face of impending destruction and death...

t3 just said fuck it, lets go mainstream and give everyone a finite super obvious ending so that even the thickos get it... and hey everyone loves explosions, it'll give em all something to jizz themselves over...

yeah it was a gee golly kaboom wow bright shiny FIREBALLLSSS sequence, but utterly unnecessary, cheap, and dumb. not one tiny bit of class in it (which i spose kinda sums up the entire film... )

but still, t3 was more of a terminator film, than t4 could ever be.

also i didnt hate stahl in t3. i hated danes, but not stahl. he kinda kept that dumb whiny punk trait that connor had in the second film... he was no hero (yet)... i think he suited the character... they coulda done a lot worse. obvious they couldnt have reused furlong... anyone who's seen his recent attempts to get back in to acting know that he sucks out loud now.

Well, i kinda agree the ending was like saying "THE END" and it was a definite. absolute ending. But i dont see any problem in using this ending as a "introduction" to the next T movie (never mind if T4 was good or bad). I dont recall the whole exact ending "speech" made by Connor in T3 but from what i do recall, John says that the war started and both the T-8xx with Arnie skin were trying to tell him and Sarah : "the fall of humans is inevitable, its your destiny". That's what the ending was about. T2 said that the future is not written, and T3 said the opposite. Hence the different "status" of the ending. When you hear that something is inevitable you are hopeless, and when you hear that our future is not set - you do hope for change and a better tomorrow.

Besides, i always treated T movies as sad ones so the "bad" ending in T3 is nicer to my taste. However, im not implying that T1's and T2's endings suck badly. NO! Both of those movies are fucking masterpieces and their copys should be made playable in all museums around the globe circa AD 9999 as absolute classics.

If the machines haven't taken over by then. They'll probably get a kick out of them as well seeing how we were smart enough (on a lab-rat level compared to them) to foresee our own demise. Very Happy

T3's ending always seemed to fit the franchise better imo. "It's inevitable, you iz all fooked. Ha ha!" the end.

We know that John Connor is dead, assassinated by terminator. If you people have expected happy ending where they end up living in Disneyland then you are sadly mistaken. Terminator movies were always about feeling of doom..

Can you imagine Batman on that show? Questioning rape victims in that "I'm trying to sound like a Nathan Explosion after he gargled razor blades" voice?

"Did you know your attacker?
No.
Was there anyone else with him?
Uh...no.
HE MUST HAVE FRIENDS!!!11"

speaking of which, one other thing i DID like about this movie, was that little girl. no, not in a roman polanski way, but she was one of the most amazing things ive ever seen in a 'serious' film.. ive never seen anyone put something so ballsy into a movie before... anyone know what she was?

(instant fail for saying 'annoying', 'useless', etc Very Happy)

I kinda thought she was pretty unremarkable.

As long as we agree that Marcus and Chekov were the high points though Wink

noooooo she was a walking plot device. think about it. the gas tank wouldnt explode when shot at... who magically hands him a flare... killer bike of doom ahead... who magically has a grenade launcher and a grenade to fill it with... who magically hands the detonator to connor at the end, who magically knows when terminators are about to show up, who magically and EASILY kills the first terminator markus encounters with a PERFECTLY timed and placed drop of scrap metal... everything that just 'magically' needed to happen... BAM... our walking little plot device strikes again Very Happy

thats whats so cool about it. ive NEVER seen a movie so blatantly create a character for such an obvious reason... at least not in a film trying to be taken seriously (ie one that wasnt mocking itself and films of its type)

True that.
I personally enjoyed the little things and analogies to the T1/T2 world like T-600 crashing a skull ( Very Happy ) or Marcus teaching Kyle how to tie the shotgun to his hand. That's when i grin Very Happy
