Do you have a account, in that case just delete the profile.dap file and let the game re-create it from the online info, try renaming it otherwise and see what happens and also delete addins.xml and the addins content and re-install the DLC (After renaming profiles.dap.)

Ok... now my game is FUBAR. Shale was in my party, but if I try to talk to him - the screen goes black and I get the initial dialogue you get when you first try to activate Shale, clicking any option begins the whole Stone Prisoner quest all over again.

FUCK YOU BIOWARE. FUCK YOU UP YOUR STUPID FUCKING ASSES.

Sabin did you use any of the console commands(cheats) ??
If yes then its screw up your game as Bioware said if you will use any of them it will do such thing even many hours later...

39hrs down the drain. I'm so fucking glad I didn't waste any more money on this bullshit.

It was nice while it lasted, but meh. Uninstall. I've got other games to play.

Oh and deleting the AddIns.xml removed the DLC completely, now it says I have to pay again to get it back. Fuck this, definitely uninstalled now.

You sure have had back luck with some of these recent games, odd how it could just de-activate and reset like that.

EDIT: Also to update DLC info that circle arrow next to the point balance has to be pressed though it might not have done much, really odd.

EDIT: Could it be due to the server update?

Sabin. I warned you about installing the Toolset. The same thing happened to me and it ruined my save. It has nothing to do with the Shale DLC or any other DLC for that matter. It's caused by the Toolset.

Check your "...\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Modules" folder, if you have it. If there is a "Single Player" folder, rename it to "Nonsense" or whatever, and then load a save from BEFORE you installed the Toolset and then talk to Leliana. If it works after that, then yeah that's the problem.

Any saves made after you installed the Toolset are going to be ruined. Which was what happened to me yesterday and I practically had to start all over because of it. Because for whatever reason when you install the toolset it makes overriding files which are somehow corrupt and non functional, and then if you play the game with those files and make a game save, they're added to the save itself. So it's irreversible AFAIK.

I haven't installed the toolset. I'm not a coder, I wouldn't know where to start.

@JB

I don't know, all I know was that when I went back to my camp - about an hour ago - to get some more quests and supplies, Dryden was back standing there and offering the quest. That's when this all started.

It's completely ruined my game. Taken off both PAID FOR WITH CASH content packs, as well as ALL associated items (weapons, items, armour - all stuff that was in use too) Everything, just gone.

Ok, well if youre talking to Shale (or were) then the DLC wasnt deactivated. Shale doesnt exist to talk to without the DLC. And the problem where NPCs talk to you like they just met you has happened to bunches of people on the Bioware Forums directly caused by Installing the Toolset.

Maybe you got "banned" or something. I saw someone on the Bioware forums calling people out "by name" calling them pirates and reporting them to moderators.

Sounds a bit like a conflict with the crack. The DLC may have some kind of new trigger not dealt with?

Then again... I'm not well versed in how all of that works, so-.
Having just completed the game (payed for the game, and bought the DLC's) I am having no problems with this portion of the game. I will back up my save manually and try the crack.

It could be a ban but shouldn't the person be notified about it?

And how could they ban if Sabin never registered the game or had a CD-key, there's no info to "track" with.

If you have the savegame I could try to look into it and see if it's reproducable or fixable.

EDIT: As for the toolset (Not related to the above.) perhaps it (Wrongly?) exports data to "\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Modules\Single Player\override" which would explain the bugs if there's content there and the override folder functions like NWN/NWN2 or Witcher?
(Clearing it should be easy, just don't save or atleast overwrite a important save before checking, I've used it quite a bit but those folders were all empty, have had no issues with it yet.)

Nothing to track? I'm pretty sure his EA Account name has been posted here already. It was just an Idea.

I didn't think about that.

Registering a DLC would need a valid account first wouldn't it?
(But shouldn't it also need a CD-key for the main game?)

Oh duh.
They said they were going to perform a server upgrade tonight. So maybe that's the cause of your problem. In that case It's only temporary.

You dont need anything to make an account, and you can register DLC to accounts without CD keys.

The game is good, but very unbalanced, buggy and unpolished.

I think it's better to put it on the shelf and wait for the GOTY edition, with all DLCs and patches included.

Up until this nonsense, I honestly though the game to be practically flawless. A few niggly issues with a memory leak, but everything else seemed to be great. I'm tired anyway, so I'm cranky, I'll probably go back in a day or two when my temper has subsided.

.... I'd REALLY hate to throw away nearly 40hrs just because some piece of crap DLC has decided to go screwy.

Thanks for the help and tips guys, I appreciate it. Hopefully Bioware fix whatever the fuck it is they've broken.

Well on a brighter note I took the chance with the OnlineKeyStore and am happy to report all went well. Got my keys almost instantly and registered them on the social site. Add $7 for Wardens Keep and it came to $37. Who needs a manual and printed DVD, I got a physical burnt disk and the option for the downloadable version should the need ever arise. Now I just hope I don't see any strange random paypal charge attempts later.

Oh ya I got the standard version. And the way EA has its download manager set up you can enter a key from a physical copy and download the game if you lose or break your disk. For newer games that are available in download versions of course. It's so rare or more likely unheard of for EA to put such a good idea into use I'm completely dumbfounded. Well actually it might be a bad idea for them if you think about it but it"s great for us.

And I didnt just buy it for the DLC. I buy games that are worth it and this one definitely is.

Weird,I thought the dlc was tied to your online account(if you even had one). So if you remove all the dlc related files,I still believe you are able to download them later once you log in.

But I experienced the dlc bug too, although it was yesterday before the server update.
Was at the camp talking to morrigan and then looked around and saw levi with a quest mark and shale didn't talk to me at all.
Got me a bit worried, but I just loaded a previous save I made few mins earlier(was testing things with morrigan) and all was well again. :/
And I did have the toolset installed...glad I save often in different slots. Smile

Cool Face

Seriously Sabin, I restarted the game like 4 times now and can't get myself to get any further than Redcliffe castle and Dalvish elves quest. Laughing Yet I like this game so much that I still do all the quests everytime I restart. I just like to experiment with things.

Well thanks for the warning anyway, I just blocked all internet connections done by any DA:O exes. My "paid for" DLCs still work flawlessly.

I'm not going to update anything ever until I have actually bought the game.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

You should have a codex entry (look for the books, tab helps). It's fairly easy.

wanted to buy the game but couldnt find it in my small piece of crap town. So i decided to buy dlc, haven`t paind attention to earlier posts about the price and though it will be cheap... BUT WTF?!?! need to buy 1800 points for TWO short addins and the cost would be 25 dolars ?!?! I could buy whole damn game for 30 dolars in my country !!!! Why few hours of gameplay cost almost the smae as game itself ?!!?!? this is outrage in my opinion and i wanted to pay bioware for their good work but because of their GREED they wont see even 1 cent from me.

Dude if you're gonna be a pirate, find a more believable reason. Buy the game. Don't support the DLC. Problem solved.

Anyway.

30 dollars or so. The DD edition which has the other extras costs like 25 dollars or so less than Steam.

There is no warden's keep in that standard version which was linked, it's on Deluxe Edition http://www.onlinekeystore.com/Dragon-Age-Origins-Digital-Deluxe-Edition-Bonus-Code.html

Question about Stone Prisoner DLC, does it come with every copy of DA:O, regardless where you bought game?

Here it reads...

* Every new retail box of DA:O contains a promotional code on a promotional code card which when redeemed provides a free download of The Stone Prisoner. Digital purchases of DA:O will have the code emailed.

So why have bioware priced it 15$ if it comes free with every game?
