I was playing online (like a tard I bought it) and got kicked out of a game with an error, can't remember the error but it said "check the console for more details" or something....There is no fucking console

Just had more games and had ONE occurrence of lag ... and it was a bad one too, lol. Everything was going great for ages, then suddenly BAM! Rubber-banding all over the place, then a complete game freeze, and then kicked out "Server timeout"

Heh. Guess it had to happen sooner or later.

Every game since, and prior, has been great though.

Didn't happen Sad Just booted us all out and that was it. I've had one server migration message, but that wasn't due to lag .. just due to the host quitting. I'd rather never see THAT again -- having to wait 5s+ while the server migrates was game killing.

Jesus, so much bitching going on here Neutral

Finally got my key, gonna download it fresh. Love steam for this, getting a solid 3.0 - 3.2 MB/s, which is not bad. Usenet would be quicker, but this will do fine while I finish up on some work

Already finished the SP, found it quite amusing. Very American though, overdone on a lot of aspects, but fun nonetheless!


Now, as far as the whole P2P versus dedicated servers thing goes: I'm sure P2P can work if done well, from what I'm hearing, it IS working.

Now, I haven't actually played the MP yet, but unless the options for hosting a game have been quadrupled, it won't be configurable enough to make competitive play work. In CoD4, the entire competitive community uses the same mod to disable a lot of bullshit you don't want in a match. Perks are one, kill streak bonuses another. I don't know what the weapon balance is like, but that's also a major point of concern.

And that folks (mainly looking at Glottis who seems to shoot down anyone with a different opinion) is why there should be dedicated servers _ALONG SIDE_ the easy-to-work-with P2P matchmaking.

MW would not have been as popular as it is/was if it hadn't had the servers and modding. The stock game is fucking horrible for competitive play, anyone claiming otherwise has obviously never tried it.


I'll see for myself what the MP is like in a few minutes, I fucking hope they got the weapon balance right for once; none of the CoD games so far have gotten that right.

No. I'm all for bashing IW/Activision but the appearance of text that was targeting the xbox 360 build is not something unexpected for a multiplatform title that had the xbox 360 as a lead platform.

The PC version is no more of port from the xbox 360 than the PS3 version is from it. Both of them are based on the xbox 360 version with any customization needed made (different input devices support, different menus, differences in how rendering is done, etc) and all other parts of the code that work as they should carried over. That's how all multiplatform games are developed.

The Xbox 360 version was the lead platform for CoD4 & CoD5 games as well.

And then like you peoples were all like, "YOU IS TROLLIN!" and I was like "I AM NOT TROLLING!! I AM guess_who_kthxbai YOU SEE! Mm!"

Ok, I've downloaded Cod out of Steam. Now can I transfer my solo profile files (saves etc.) from Skidrow to Steam setup ?
Problem is I can't find the location (it's the first time I use Steam).

Was just expressing my opinion and stating some facts, although it was a little bitchy towards Glottis, I admit

Just on a sidenote, I did in fact play MW and WaW on random modless public servers and enjoyed it nonetheless once I figured out what the weapons to use were. I'm just saying those 2 weren't suitable for competitive play because you'd essentially have both teams using the same weapons doing the same shit constantly Wink

Done with the MW2 download, I'll check back in a bit Very Happy

Yes, just pasta the files in the Steamapps folder (where they are being downloaded. You probably already have the NCF files in place from Steam, so just paste there and it will have 99% if not 100%.
