Just use activate.iso, don't bother with patching.

cool its just a boot disc.. didnt know of that one. so if my console was unbanned couldnt I just use this boot disc and keep my old firmware, or would that be unsafe? not that it matters now (damn you microsoft!!) but just for the record

Wait!
Activate.iso works only on Ixtreme 1.6 if I am not mistaken.

Why bother with activation disk, when it so much easier and faster to patch the game?

Yep, and no need to waste a disc for the stupid activation that way, either. Just google for "360 Waves Patcher".

I haven't been able to get wave 4 games to work on mine for whatever reason just says open tray even though the disc burned successfully in imgburn.
I updated the 360 via flash drive, patched the iso, however it just says open tray. The process worked for wave 3 games however not for wave 4.
Edit:
Also, my xbox is not banned yet, never been on live since hack, always perform updates from games or since the wave 4 stuff from flash drive/net.

I have patched two wave 4 games now, and both work flamlessly on my recently banned xbox.
I followed the solution found here.
Just followed the via Abgx360 solution to hack and verify, and it worked flawlessly for me (my xbox has one of the earlier Liteon Drives, currently running ixtreme 1.6)

I'm thinking about patching my wave 4 games, since I'm getting tired of fiddling with the extra activation disc. And there's still no sign of a new firmware for us LiteOn dudes.
So I have one question: will my console get banned if I patch the games? My console is never connected to the internet. (I don't trust Microsoft and its fiendish dark magic from hell.)

Hi,
I patched it, but something strange happened. The ppf file I used, was v14-15.ppf. There is a newer version v15-16.ppf, could that solve the problem? I could try of course, but I don't feel like trashing my expensive Verbs
Anyway, here's what happened. I patched the Bayonetta ISO, burned it on a Verb, and put it in the tray. Then, the game itself wouldn't load, but a notice pops up. 'To play this game, put it in an Xbox 360'.
The wave 4 protection has been removed, apparently. Because normally, a large Xbox logo pops up when you load a wave 4 game in an Xbox without the proper firmware. But not in this case. The wave 4 security has been removed, but something else on the disc got messed up.
When I use the activation disc however, Bayonetta boots perfectly. So the game seems to be intact.

Bayonetta is already wave 3 so perhaps you dont need to patch it.

That may be the cause, it got released quite some time ago. What a joke, I fucked up the game for nothing
Anyway, I'm trying the v15-16.ppf on a real wave 4 game: Assassin's Creed II. I'll let ya know if it works

|
 |
Surprise! There's no such thing as a v15-16.ppf, so I'm ditching the crappy PPF-o-Matic.
So now I'm using the well known ABGX app. But I can't get it to actually PATCH the iso! I've followed every step of the *tutorial here, but all the program does is merely CHECKING the stealth status.
I've filled in all the necessary options in the Autofix tab, Manually patch tab and Misc tab. And the I hit the uber large Launch button... and then it won't patch. So how do I get ABGX to actually use the modified video and pfi file to patch the iso?
Actually I'm a little afraid to admit I'm using ABGX on a Mac: there's bound to be wiseguys blaming the patching error on the Mac

That's a very nice tutorial, but strangely ABGX is still only scanning and not patching. The PPF-o-Matic does patch iso's, but they don't work without the boot disc on my 360. So PPF doesn't help either.
I don't think my firmware could cause any problems, since I'm using the same 360 as you. A LiteOn with IX1.6.
So I'm at a loss, in my case patching seems to be impossible with both ABGX and PPF-o-Matic.

Ha-hey, it worked! Finally.
I had to connect a nasty Windows machine to the home network to patch the ISOs on my Mac, but it got the job done. Remarkably, ABGX for Windows also refused to patch the ISOs. The obscure 'Xbox waves patcher' finally did the trick.
