Yeah the laser section was a bit annoying. Razz
(Plus a few other areas and the horde of enemy troops you need to hack trough to get to the level boss.)

EDIT: Or do you mean the level a bit before with the Purge Trooper?, quite a challenge as well.
(Saber isn't all too effective either, supposedly lore related though.)

No, the rest of the game is awesome.. it's where you have to pull the Star Destroyer down. THAT drove me up the wall, on the 360 too.

Oh that, had some problems there as well actually due to the constant re-spawning of those tie-fighters, not too dangerous but it makes the level a bit of a drag if you aren't fast enough.
(I actually pulled it down too much so it got stuck in the "floor" of the level the first time, had to restart that checkpoint to proceed as the ship couldn't get loose.)

Gamespot claims the PC version is bugged to oblivion, almost unplayable, and a terrible port. As opposed to IGN; they gave it a pretty good score, 7.5 and didn't pay too much attention to the bugs and glitches as GS did.

Gamespot is full of shit, lol, though they're right about one thing; it's a "port". I just finished the game, around 7.5hrs worth of play (not bothering to hunt down all the holocrons, I did that crap on the Xbox version) and it was a blast of a time. Barely any bugs to speak of (only one that even comes to mind was me getting stuck outside the world when I was in the Sarlacc) and it ran flawlessly, never wavering from the 30fps cap -- the patch helped performance too, all-but eliminating the "laggy" feel to the game.

If you've got the rig for it, and haven't yet played the game, I strongly recommend doing so. Awesome Star Wars experience.

Aye, those damned Tie Fighters were what irked me more than anything .... right up until the moment I found out you can just zap them with Force Lightning and they became considerably less of a problem, before it was having to deal with them AND get the correct orientation of the Star Destroyer so that it could be pulled down. Turns out the onscreen indicators are a crock of shit, lol. Just make sure the Destroyer is facing you, and you can see it's belly -- once that happens, you almost instantly get the "RIP IT DOWN!" section.

The game isn't bad, but it could have been so much better. Didn't the crappy lightsaber combat bother anyone but me? When you hit someone with a lightsaber, you don't usually get green fucking orbs as a result.
And boss fights usually go like this: 1)Hit them with lightning
2)Run around until lightning recharges
3)Repeat steps 1 and 2

If only there was a way to merge this game with Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy.

I agree. The game isn't bad. But there are details which should be different.
Speed burst should be continous.
Force jump should be "in one jump".
Change of lightsaber fighting styles. Dual and two-hand lightsabers.
No "blue-white-blur" when using force push. Maybe just slight motion blur or something.

Just to name a few.

The Jedi Knight/Dark Forces are vastly superior to this game, but I don't think it's FUBAR. But it reeks of consolitis Very Happy About the bugs, I haven't encountered a single one and I'm currently on Felucia again (inside the Sarlacc) so I guess I'm more than half way in. What does really annoy me, is when the camera shifts perspective (usually with special boss fights) then you lose nearly all form of control with mouse&keyboard, the same happened In Arkham Asylum but yeah, it is a PORT so...

What is an aspect ratio of this game? I have a 4:3 monitor (1024x1280) and it just feels somehow squeezed.

I didn't check 4:3 res, but I checked 16:10 vs 16:9 and it maintains correct aspect ratio and fov. So shouldn't be a problem with 4:3 either, me thinks.

You are right. It seems that only animations (FMVs) are unoptimized for 4:3 but the rest of the game is ok.

Ah, i feel 30GBs lighter. Just finished the pos, glad thats over. This game has truly been a test of my patience, between the crashes, the idiotic AI, the invincibility frames of most bosses and FUCKING VADER FORCE GRIPPING ME 30 TIMES IN A ROW! FUCK.

Alright i feel better now.

dunno exactly what the problem is, but check for a few things first. make sure your temp folder is on a partition with enough space (16gigs, etc). make sure the game actually uses that folder and doesn't try to use C: (check the free diskspace for C: and G: while the patch is running). and check that the path to your temp folder doesn't contain any russian chars, that might fuck it up too.

I have a 19GB in my C and now i have 14GB becouse 3 gb or 2 gb are the windows XP how can i make this files instal to directory or the partition G i have 40gb and when i instal game i will have a 20 gb maybe can i somehow instal the patch files i G becouse i think 14 gb are not enough and i cant make enough space for the patch is there another way ?

You can let the patch store the temporary files on your G drive if you change the temp folder in windows.

note: you can screw things up messing with settings over there Wink

1 - create a folder, ie. G:\temp
2 - Go to the properties of 'my computer' (assuming winXP here)
3 - Go to the 'advanced' tab
4 - Go to Environment variables (translated from my dutch version, leftbottom button on the tab)
5 - Change the values behind TMP and TEMP from C:\Windows\Temp (or whatever it says atm) to G:\temp

You can do step 5 in both User and Systemvariables.. Probably 4 values in total. Not sure what the difference is. I did it myself and my pc still works, but I'm not responsible if yours decides to crash or explode Laughing

You can change everything back to normal afterwards if you feel like it.

finally (well ...) got to install this ... game ... and give it a try ...

Oh my ... its lame. the cutscenes and story starts promising. But then you get to play and i was just like "wtf". First it rather preforms bad. Not in FPS numbers or anything , but it has weird stutters of textures, movement feels clunky, combat is oddly executed and uninspiring. They could have simply copied the combat and movement from Jedi Knight games no ? That was great, but no, they had to simplify even more and totally ruin any feel it had left.

Anyway, uninstalled, back to DAO

I already beat the game on the psp. So this is basically the same game with better graphics? I thought the next gen version was very different.

This.

Ran great as well.. some minor slowdowns when alot of stuff gets annihilated, but never annoying (framerate drops usually annoy the crap out of me).

Already finished it on the xbox360, still enjoyed the PC version as well.

Same here, mate. Played and finished the 360 version back when it came out, then I finished the PC one a few days ago. Pre-patch was a bit stuttery, it ran at 30fps - but often felt like less, yet when it was patched it played great and felt great.

Argh. For some reason the game keeps crashing for me, just after the box shuffling tutorial, when the movie starts to play (before the mission on the ship). The movie alone works, when watched from the menu, but the mission just won't start, no matter what i do. It's even more irritating because i've completed it before but didn't keep the save, and because after the patch, the game is actually playable on my rig on those missions it was slow before (checked it by mission select on a 100% save from the net - but it has all abilities enabled so it's kinda meh to play that way). ARGH!

Anyone who could possibly provide a save file after first mission as the Aprentice? I would be indebted if someone could do that.

Finished the last extra missions (the jedi temple one) a couple of minutes ago. It deserves the prize of shittiest port of the year. Too bad the story was actually decent.

Patch installed still had performance problems and a few crashes.Still at least the loading times for the menus are better although it did manage to lockup a few times on me. Seems like a 10 year old can code in his sleep better than ASPYRSHIT did for this game. Those willing to try give it a year of two and maybe the game will be playable for all of us.

I've had a lot of problems with the game too. Crashes mainly, but not exclusively. There's also a lot of people with such problems, probably depends on PC config/system. A very shitty port of a decent game. Not mind-blowing or anything, just decent.
