As it is; I've gotten used to the FOV now. It took a long ass time, but meh .. you work with what you've got. I'll use that console enable hack if, and only if, I know it's safe and Valve doesn't go all medieval on us with the banhammer.

btw default aside in cod4 , PB allowed Fov being changed. Its simply a sv_ setting ... that limits the amount (like min_fov 65 max_fov 80) by default in cod4 as far as i remember (i know we used fov 80 in ESL rules set, so i guess it was default allowed).

Lol, solid response to a valid post. You just can't give any proper arguments.

I already said my argument, why should I repeat myself just because you can't read?

Short argument version: Devs intended fov value of 65 which is dominant in all of call of duty games.

Long version: Enabling entire console just so users can change fov would be a mistake. If fov issue is really that bad then a simple fov change slider in video settings would be sufficient. Between sane values that is, let's say 65 to 80. Again, devs intended 65. You really think they just randomly selected 65 to piss you off?
And lastly using fov value above default makes weapons look like spaghetti, makes movement feel like running in quake3, that's not right.

The next thing IW should do is block the resolution @ 800x600, the game is not optimized for other resolutions and 800x600 was available in all Call of Duty games.

IMO FoV 80 is too much, I've tried playing now with 75 and that's much better tbh, even when compared to FoV 65 (I'm ofcourse talking about CoD 4 & 5).

My take on MW2:
After 4 days of download and 6 hours of play!
Good game, but was expecting better from IW. 2 years after MW they have done the same game! minus the PC tweaks /and IMO an inferior ambient/ level design.

Where COD4 was great and innovative while maintaining true to the COD gameplay COD6 is "just" the next bunch of missions not a new game perse... and i wont be remembering any off them! neither any of the characters.

I´m not bashing the game, its good, just not good enough considering is coming from the same team that did the first MW.

It just saddens me this is a triple A title on PC in the year 2009

default fov in cod1 was 80
default fov in cod2 was 80
cod3 , no idea, console only so irrelevant
default fov in cod4 was 65, PB tolerated up to fov 80
default fov cod6 is 65 , yet to see if VAC allows higher

anyway, dont say cod fov was always 65 lulz ...

quake 3 default was 90 btw (engine used for cod1 and 2 (alltho heavily modified for 2))

i see glottis edited it to "dominant".

I agree, cod4 (haven't checked default of cod5 , but i guess its same as 4) and cod6 have default 65 , yes. But from all the Cod games (released on pc !), it was allowed to change to 80 .. except in cod6, simply by hiding the console ...

Such as, what map and how many players you want to have on it (up to 17) and let's not forget that you can choose the ace option to randomly disconnect due to bad connection.

No you didn't and that's the problem, I think it's worth clarifying because if I thought I could set up a public game with specific custom rules and map settings, then I would actually think it's worth buying because then I at least have some choice in what maps and settings to play with.

I don't have 10 steam friends who are online at the same time as me and who also want to play MW2 at the same time so I can't use that setting and I'm 100% sure I'm not the only one. Smile

Yeah I guess it's worth mentioning, but without dedicated servers public custom games wouldn't work. Basically match creator would be like a ruler playing whatever maps he wants, kicking whoever he wants. If you played Gears of War on PC online you know what I mean.
