means it has been in development at least a year before that.

Microsoft and Remedy have backed away from the PC version of Alan Wake over the past year - once a flagship showcase for Quad Core CPUs and all that is good about the innovative PC industry, Alan Wake gradually became a less ambitious, linear action-adventure game after Remedy signed on with Microsoft. The PC version was put on the backburner, with all efforts going into the lead Xbox 360 release; the launch date was pushed to "TBA," and official representatives were coy or downright evasive about its future. Now, Microsoft reps have finally confirmed that Alan Wake will never be released on the PC, after dropping all mention of the home computer version from their latest marketing materials.

Quote:
"Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. We ultimately realised that the most compelling way to experience Alan Wake was on the Xbox 360, so we focused on making it an Xbox 360 exclusive. Both Microsoft and Remedy have long histories in PC game development. This decision was about matching this specific game to the right platform," revealed Microsoft in some of the company's latest marketing materials.

Oh, you mean X360 exclusive like Halo, Gears of War, Fable, and GTA IV Episodes? Fine, let the console players test the beta version while I'll play the finished PC one a few months later. Laughing

Well, I always thought there wasn't really a lot of reasons to buy an X360, if you already have a gaming PC. I'd be more inclined to buy a PS3 due to their exclusives since most of the games worth having on Xbox were also available for PC. I guess MS is trying to fix that.

It's a shame, I was interested in this game, but I suppose this had to be expected and I am sure we'll see more of that in the future.

It'd be fun to see this game flop after all this hype though Smile

There are no fully functional Xbox 1 emulators. And 9 years have passed since release. Let alone 3-core Xbox 360...

So, get your head out of the clouds. Laughing

Well Remedy, you have permanently lost me as a customer for good. I may, however, BUY a PS3 and Heavy Rain. I'll pirate Alan Wake and play it on my friends 360. I would have bought the PC version.

Rolling Eyes
that's because there are few people that working on it and there is mach less demands
it's true there is no PC "right now" that can handle 360 emulation on plyable speed, but
the technology is progressing ,so eventually there will be 360 emulator.
blueshogen{that charge' on X-box emulation} him self said the 360 emulation is possible even on the present hardware.

The mainstream PCs are barely there to handle PS2 emulation at a decent framerate, even Core i7s can struggle, as far as I know. And many of PCs people have right now are equipped with CPUs inferior to those that the Xbox360 has.
Bad ports run at bad framerates on above average dual core CPUs even though they were made for PC. I don't think CPUs with processing power to emulate an Xbox360 with playable results are even designed on paper yet (I am talking about home PC market obviously).
So all in all, waiting for an emulator to play this game is kinda pointless. A much simpler solution is to get an Xbox.
