FFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU ...

That is code for "buy this now" to me.

Mods for this game should be interesting, too.

I really would like to see a Dark Omen remake or a similar game in a different setting. This looks like a fantasy Total War clone. I really hope this game has a great campaign with staged battles.

Anyone remember a game called Birthright? That really needs remaking.
Epsilon: Game is great btw, I love it, so far it's a definite goty. It's remarkable how much has changed since the beta, stardock have been working their asses off, and it shows.

Are you talking about the D&D setting?

Atari owns that license so you can bet it would be an utter pile of shit.

the link to the store gives me an error and searching for it on steam directly the only result is a trailer.

						http://store.steampowered.com/app/24400/

Works here, checked it again just now but while it's listed as released it's probably just due to the timer on Steam's website as there's no way to order it yet, guess it'll happen later just like with Serious Sam HD?

(US time it's about six in the morning or so depending on location and thus the time zone of course.)

EDIT: Can't think of any reason it would be restricted either, normally you would get a error message saying the reason (Or atleast that's what I see if I were to check a title only available in the US by going by the "app" number.)

EDIT: Seems it's region restricted then, I'll see what I can find.

The setting doesn't trouble me. I'd just love to see something like Arthur or one of the Total War games with a proper RPG/Adventure aspect.

It's been released on steam. I just purchased it as I'm apparently a sucker for this stuff.

Also watch the dev video 1 it's hilarious. Near the very end Zoltan wants to say "fight" but he has difficulty pronouncing it properly. So he says fuck instead.

Welcome to the lost age of chivalry, where magic and myth is alive, and you

are destined to be one of the living legends: Arthur, the son of Uther

Pendragon, the Once and Future King of the prophecies.

Fulfill your destiny and claim your rightful place on the throne of

Britannia. Recruit fabled knights to your Round Table: send them to

adventures or battles, let them gather knowledge and artifacts, see how they

become the most powerful heroes of the realm. Build the majestic Camelot, but

beware: there will be enemies, both mortal and otherworldly that will try to

destroy you. Send your heroes and their followers to battle with legendary

warriors and monsters and see how the folk of the faeries and the saints set

  against wizards and evil knights.

  Features

  * Real-time fantasy battles: spectacular fight scenarios on grandiose

battlefields, featuring thousands of soldiers and powerful heroes such as

Sir Lancelot, Sir Galahad or Merlin. Battles rely on the strengths and

weaknesses of the different arms with several tactical possibilities, the

abilities of the units and the heroes, monsters and most of all, spells.

  * Turn-based Campaign Map: Britannia is represented as a fully three

dimensional topographic map where heroes move freely, conquer provinces

or find adventures. In the turn-based campaign the changing seasons have

effect on the gameplay and the graphics of the Campaign Map.

  * Create your own legend! The saga of King Arthur is an epic tale about the

conquest of Britannia through a story-based campaign. The Campaign is

divided into chapters, like a chronicle, each with a unique tone and

theme. The chapters all have objectives, long- and short-term goals that

also fit together to draw a grandiose picture of an unfolding storyline.

There are many possible events and outcomes that all influence the legend

itself and determine the ending of the storyline.

  * Morality Chart: Every decision in the game will influence the position of

King Arthur on the Morality Chart. King Arthur might become a Christian

ruler or the Follower of the Old Faith; a rightful or a ruthless monarch.

These choices unlock special contents, allies, heroes, units and

    developments.

  * RPG elements: Heroes lead the armies and learn skills, spells and

abilities from an ability tree for experience points. Heroes can also use

magic items or become liege lords, entrusted with the leadership of a

province, which is the best way to have them indebted. Arranging their

marriages with the nice damsels of Arthur's court also raises their

    loyalty.

  * Adventures: adventuring is the essence of King Arthur's world. Quests pop

up on the Campaign Map regularly. In technical terms it is a short story

where the chosen knight has to make important decisions. Some adventures

end in battles on special battlemaps.

Only watched the vids but if you like Mark of Chaos/Total War etc you should like this. Check the dev diaries if you haven't.

Wow, just watched the dev diaries and it looks very impressive. I will download first, hope it is as epic as it seems.

Finished installing, will say a bit about it once I'm in the actual game though I'm fairly bad at RTS titles but it's worth a try atleast.

EDIT: Uses PhysX by the way, probably no GPU accelerated effects though.

EDIT: Various images from the intro videos, introduction video and tutorial area, pretty well optimized but I'm only beginning to learn about the various gameplay mechanics and systems feels sort of similar to the "Creative Asembly" total war titles in a way or the Crusader title released a while ago though a bit more focused on the campaign and story.

(Although skirmish maps and MP is available as well.)

EDIT: Battles are more about using proper strategy as they are quite difficult to win at the early stages of the game since you don't really have a proper army, only won the first battle due to the "knight" taking on the remaining enemy soldiers alone and won.

(They're not that well animated either so speeding up time after arranging troops and giving orders helps quite a bit, probably don't want to use the auto-resolve button to avoid losing too many troops, also there's no retreat or morale as I've seen so it's a battle to the death with every enemy unit until they are all dead.)

(Was mostly fooling around as it's kinda a tutorial for the battle mechanics of the game, terrain type, formations and movement speed is very important, as is various abilities and of course your units and the enemy units both their strength and type such as light, heavy, melee or ranged or riders.)

EDIT: As seen with the map screens the game world is quite big even for this first chapter (Of three.) and there's a lot of little details like the description for the various areas and you also have a form of journal to track progress and read more about the background story and various characters.

EDIT: One thing though, voice acting can take some time to get used to, heh.

(Outro video also seems to point towards a expansion later on.)
