Any way to enable mouse view at all times ? Annoying that I have to hold the right mouse button all the time..
That would be silly because you use the right mouse button for almost everything, so...
That would make it less silly. Right now I have to hold it all the time, and when I want to talk to/attack/otherwise interact with someone/something, I have to release it and then click on them.
It should be more like a regular third person game with a crosshair or something, only hold rmouse when you need to use something on your HUD..
Well, I'd prefer it that way
the witcher enhanced edition
risen
divinity 2
are the more recent ones.
obviously if you never played games such as baldur's gate 1 & 2 or planescape torment then those are worth playing as well if you can live with the slightly outdated graphics
Likot Mosuskekim, Woodcutter cancels Sleep: Interrupted by Elephant.
*sigh* I don't know why ppl find graphic outdated. It is not FPS-genre game so it doesn't need to be tip-top. And I still find place, like in Deep Roads Ruin's where I make screenshot, becouse it looks sweet. Of course I would rather like too see game more dark and detailed, not so ghayish-WoWish, but I suppose these are trends nowadays. Anyways, graphic gives good feeling, you can feel atmosphere, so it works, becouse it is all about in RPG, right?
@Surray - Witcher all teh way, if u didn't play it yet ruud28. I've recently finished it for the 3rd time. Simple the best. I miss dialogues from Witcher...

Hey dont be so hard the little console eunuchs, they need time to aim their lil vibratin thumbstick.
just to check the witcher enhanced edition skidrow release is the european version and does not require the blood patch and director's cut patch?
The European version by skidrow is uncut and Enhanced, it's equal to the US Director's Cut which was released at a later date (don't know why they chose to call it Director's Cut), so get that version and get the latest official patch as it fixes a few bugs and removes copy protection completely
Btw. For those of you who have a legit copy and are wondering why your character profiles won't update with story info, Achievements and Screenshots on Bioware social site, I can tell you that it should be fixed tomorrow (monday 23 of November) according to a Bioware official on their social site.

I thought I'd give this game a go. I've played for three hours, and still really find all the character control, combat and tactics thing not a lot of fun. The levels are cramped, a bit lifeless, Dungeon Siege 2 did this better, and plodding around on a map is a bit lame, post Oblivion and Fallout.
What the hell is going on with Red Cliff Castle. For Christs sake, I just can't be bothered to chase some NPC stuck on a bit of broken scenery, just so that wave after wave of undead stop comming towards you.
Thank god I never paid for this. Bioware you loose. I will never buy this. Unlike Fallout and Mass Effect which I bought and enjoyed immensly.
Honestly any one who's finished this need to take up another hobby, say solving world poverty, christ.
Honestly, it might not be people who finished this who need a new hobby. If you find Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect, not to mention Dungeon Siege 2 more interesting, then story-centered RPGs that are deeper then an average shooter and actually require effort and thinking obviously ain't your thing. Try Serious Sam instead.
If I were to compare quality i would just say that all NPCs from Bethesda's last two games combined aren't as deep and intruiging (not to mention likeable) as DA's one liner (Enchantment!! ). Well, alright, excluding Sheogorath, but that's it.

well I can't say I find being rushed in a doorway by overwhelming multiple NPC's, while constantly dying because you haven't fully grasped a user interface system with layers of detached needlesly complicated design flaws fun to play or challanging.
Ahh, now I get it, pause button, heal, pause again, heal, change character, set tactic, pause, heal, change party formation, pause.... ahhh... sorry your welcome to this folks!
You might want to use other character's abilities too, but yeah, pausing, changing characters and healing kinda seems like a must. And yea, i find it much better then "press button until it drops and don't worry, won't take long" (FO3 style).
The game certainly has some design flaws (every game does), but none of them i found "detached" or "needlessly complicated". Nothing is NEEDLESLY complicated in DA, it's just not overly simplified, that's all.
Anyways, it's Your choice wheter You like it or not, obviously, and if You don't, by all means don't buy it. To each his own .

Obviously you havent played any rpg masterpiece ever. Plus believe me this game is over simplified for the console folks. You simply dont have the knowledge to criticize this type of strategic gameplay.
How long have you played it? 2-3 hours? Less? Keep playing and you'll see it's practically impossible.
call me weird but i have finished this game that way
What do you mean? Holding the right mouse button for the entire time? Because that's what he wants, the camera constantly rotating around the character instead of getter a cursor for issuing commands. Of course you can play in third-person camera (although it would seem a bit difficult).
FFS first time I played I couldn't find a way to fix the camera in tactical position. Why the heck would someone need a over the shoulder view when the tactical view works perfectly with a mouse and keyboard. Yes it would have been nice if I could zoom even farther away a la BG2.
If you need third person play the console shitty variant. All the reviews I read so far come to the conclusion that the PC version is superior from a graphical and especially control standpoint.

That's the opposite end of silly views. Who are you to dictate how you like to play games on others? So hard to scroll your wheel once if you don't like it so much?
I like to use the close camera for exploration because I can see much further (and graphics are beautiful, so why not enjoy them? ), while for combat I use the top camera because it gives more control.

That's exactly how I used it too
Same. It's the best of both worlds. All the details it can give me + tactical combat view. <3
If I'm doing easy fights (as most the "fluff" fights are) I fight from a zoomed in, OTS, view as it's the most graphic and enjoyable. For big battles, mainly bosses and the like, I play it a tad more strategically so I use the zoomed out view and the pause>tactics functionality.
Just finished my Nightmare run with a Rogue. The only really diffcult fight in the game for me was Ser Cautherin - the one that you are supposed to lose - took me 6 times.
Spoiler:
Fuck Loghain, turn her into a Grey Warden!
I died 3 times during the rest of the game (Brood Mother, Caidrin, replayed Redcliff once to save everyone).
Gaxkang got one-shot by Morrigan's Mana Clash
All that is left is to play through the rest of the Origin stories and wait for the DLC!
Finished the game yesterday. Man, that's one fine game i tell you.
Im gonna wait a couple of days, play Divinity 2 and then come back. I played a human rogue focused on bacstabbing/criticals (assassin). Anyone have a suggestion what to try next? Maybe an elf magi?

I love playing a (elf) mage... So much I cannot imagine having so much fun playing a warrior or rogue.
Nothing beats the thrill of freezing a group of hurlocks, dumping a fireball on their heads, blasting them with a cone of lightning and picking of the few remaining with a well placed walking bomb, seeing them explode as soon als Alistair pricks them with a sword, splattering all with a copious amount of blood

Sounds too fun! I think i might be playing DA again since today
