Of course its going to use your region prices u dont go into ur local supermarket in usa and the till guy says, "oh ur from nederlands so ill just charge you in that currency ok?".. no your charged in your area in your wonga type.. which blows cause >>>>>
the point stands once upon a time it wasnt like this and now it is, and the internet being the internet most people are able to find a bargain by buying online where they bloody well fooking like right?

In the US the selling price is before taxes and since it is an online purchase you don't see the sales tax charge, but you are "supposed to report" (very few do, of course) these online purchases on your tax forms to get hit with another 6-7.5% tax depending on your local region. Not trying to defend Steam since I am sure that they are trying to earn some extra $$, but what is the VAT on things like Video Games in the EU (seems like I have heard its up to like 22-23% in Finland). I imagine that much like our system the VAT varies between regions / nations, so I assume that Steam took the easy approach and said that the price is %15-25 higher due to VAT, then throw in some margin for exchange rate since that fluctuates too much to hassle with, then finally throw in another percentage (ummm... lets call it Steam greed tax  ) and magically 1USD = 1EUR. Never really heard the reasoning behind the prices, but I imagine it falls along those lines.
That being said, in terms of DD services I still prefer GamersGate since you don't need client software to update / install, just their simple stand-alone downloader and download updates from your web account. Of course as with most DD, it is still a pain trying to figure out if / what DRM is used on new titles. According to responses from GamerGate support and even Stardock/Impulse support teams, apparently many major software houses like EA restrict them from displaying the protection until after release and even then discourage advertising things like, "This game is up to its ears in SecuRom." LOL

jsut came here to ask this same question on how to enable them period. Just started playing again for the first time in ages.
