You mean "2010 PC console port holy grail"? Cool Face

For it to fit that criteria the games would have to be identical in terms of content and that isn't true. Besides Dice have said it isn't a port and I'll take their word on that until proven otherwise.

Last second additions to stfu people from saying "why the hell was that crap delayed" do not constitute for me as not being console ports. Gameplay is what matters. For example, Dragon Age is not a port per se for me, because there are proper features that make use of the PC features to make it play different and, more importantly, play better. No, mouse look, graphics options and DX11 tessellation do not constitute as such features. Laughing

32 players in PC version. You are right about BF3 thou, I really hope it's 128+ players.

The only thing I expect from this title is for it to be better than BF2. I loved BF2 even though it had the most ridiculous retard system for registering/accounts/graphic/control settings ever... For example, you could use shift to duck because shift was also being used for afterburning in airplanes and lowering the helicopters. That was by default, but if you wanted to set the key to something else you couldn't have it take more than one thing... So you for example couldn't set the control key for the afterburner AND sprint... You had to choose. Completely ridiculous.

When was the last time time you played BF2... This problem had been solved in the 1.1 patch or something...

No It's still not patched in 1.50. I just tried to map my X360 joystick to the proper buttons and after I map the jet I map the helicopter and I get errors the buttons are already in use. Thankfully you can edit the controls.con and map everything the way you like as I have had to do everytime I re-install BF2.

Where is your source for 32 players? What about 64 some BF2 servers supported 64...

not "some" servers.

BF2 vanilla maps supported 16/32/64 by default (same maps, but different borders, less flags etc)

So a demo before the game launches that doesn't seem logical...

Although I think EA has done this in the past haven't they?

Ok my memory isn't clear on this but didn't EA release Battlefield 2 and then 3-4 months later the multiplayer demo was released?

If we get a Bad Company 2 demo before the official release date that is even better!

BF2 demo was released way before full version, so yes, your memory is crap (no surprise there).

Glottis go take a shower I knew I smelled something funny...

Oh by the way you guys are right, I remember now - I think I played the demo like a week or two before I went out and bought a copy for myself and my best friend.

Glottis what do you mean (no surprise there), did I hurt your troll feelings and this is your attempt at revenge for something you think I've done?

Was it 2142 I am thinking of, where the demo came out after the retail release?

EAX support? Haven't heard of that for a while. Since there is no hardware accelerated sound library in Vista and 7 (no such thing as DirectSound anymore), I doubt they'll bother. Unless they are using OpenAL, but I doubt it.

ALchemy is for converting EAX/DSound calls to OpenAL - which means those pesky Creative cards get a little bit more lease of life.

prob a good reason if some games play up and we are using creative still, dunno seems shitty my x-fi used to be handy for taking load off games that utilized it. And of course with it not being even looked at fully with the latest os's kinda pisses me orf...

The reason they did this is basically to break Creative's monopoly. With OpenAL anyone can create a driver to support the most advanced features, even if interpreted on the CPU.

Creative ALchemy is only good for old titles. Like I said, most new games either go with OpenAL, FMOD or X Audio, none of which require hardware acceleration for enabling all the effects.

Ci2e wrote:

Pretty much, if quality doesn't matter to you (you won't hear the difference with regular speakers/headphones anyway). Onboard can never provide the quality of a dedicated card, even if only because of mechanical reasons (the Onboard is onboard a motherboard, so it's much more prone to power irregularities and spikes, which are translated into distortions and loss of precision.
As a quick example, laptops (and regular PCs with Onboard, but less often), when the CPU performs a switch from one stepping to another (to save power), you hear it in the speakers, quite loudly sometimes. Putting a dedicated card almost completely solves this.

i use the xfi for the quality of the sounds not specialy for eax, i dont even use cmss-3d or the crystalizer.
you cant compare the xfi with an onboard sound card
for me the sound is the best without all the special sound effects.
but the boxes or your headset are also importent to get a nice sound
i have myself a sennheiser HD650 and it sounds great.
only windows 7 dont wanto go into sleepmode automatiacly because of the creative drivers.
