if u can play the clean iso iso for a few minutes before the 'unknown error'
then all u need is to get HBC on to run gecko os(alt disc launching channel)+cheat fix .. it still uses your chip
all chip users should have gecko os (full 100% region free and u can use cheats etc) and HBC on anyway... u can install wiiware/vc games and run apps like mplayer-ce

I think loading neogamma and patching ios60 did it for me. Im on level 2-1 and no problems yet, where as before I couldnt get past 1-1 w/out a disc error. What do you guys think?

@ Lorenzos, just read this whole thread. You need to install a few specific patched IOS to get this game to work. If you don't want to do this, either wait, or buy the fucking game.

A question on this. How do you install VC Games using Gecko..? Only way I've been able to do it is using Wad Manager which I had to first load the Trucha Bug on a IOS just to get them to install.
Game works fine. Running it through Gecko, with custom cheat file, unpatched, with a WiiKey 1.
Patching the game results in DRE and I have to restart the Wii.

Works like a charm with the patched mario version, neogamma r8 and trucha patch. I Had to copy the iso to the harddrive with the wbfs manager cause the copy on dvd-r won't boot.
Played over 2 hours, without any problems. NICE GAME!

Why wait for weeks until MAYBE a solution comes up, when you could just softmod your Wii in 30 minutes and then have additional benefits?

for those with a DriveKey chip - the following news from their website:
Quote: |
2009-11-26 >> NSMB fixed on DriveKey!
We have fixed the NSMB issue in DriveKey. The updated firmware will be in all chips shipping from Monday 30th November. We will also be providing an update for existing DriveKey owners, which will be released as soon as the JTAG programmer is ready. In the near future we will also publish a standard for appending BCA data at the end of the ISO image, so that any new game with this new protection will work without any update of the chip. The actual game ISO will remain unmodified. |

I got fed up with this not working from DVD (with a modchip) so spent an afternoon messing about connecting a hard drive to the WII, Feck! I wish I had done this ages ago. its great having all those games on a (160 gig atm) HD. Great little app Coverfloader and you are set..

Mario will not work for me on Wii key from a dvd. I have not seen anyone having a copy they can play from DVD.
I reckon Nintendo have finally beaten the hackers at the prize of having a copy run from a DVD.

I'll admit this game IS worth buying, but what exacty beat you? The 30 minutes it takes to softmod your console? I bet you couldn't earn the 40€ the game costs in that half hour...

Damn right, I picked up an external HDD, set everything up and got a shitload of Wii games loaded on it. Can't believe I ever bothered using discs. Great game too, by the way, reminds me of SMB3...which is always a good thing.

It already works from a DVD with Neogamma. It's just another program to use, doesn't make any difference IMO.

I tried several versions of NeoGamma, would work for about 15mins or so and then crash with the check disc error.. only thing that has worked for me is using uLoader -- dont even have to do anything like modify the dvd with main.dol patches or trunka fix.. etc.
On 4th world playing non-stop -- fun game!
