The German version ran fine. Strange that a supposedly (?) improved version seems to run bad for many people.

Need a little help...
Spoiler: | I just got thru the bandit camp and entered the temple of doom. I figured out how to avoid the poison but I can beat Jargon because I'm too weak and he kills me with 1-2 shots from his bow. I would leave the area and level up some more but I can't because the door locks me inside. What can I do? |

The stutter went away for me when I lowered Shadows to High (instead of extreme)
All other settings can be kept at max.

The stutter was annoying me really badly to the point where I was gonna stop playing until they patch. None of the splicing options seemed to help but then I saw someone mention to alt-tab the game and increase the priority of the process to high in the task manager. I tried that and it smooths out the cursor in the menus, makes menus load quicker and gives me a much lower amount of stutter to the point where I can barely notice it. Not sure if it will work for everyone but yeah.

You mean we're getting the ability to add map notes now!? AWESOME! Div2 was a contender for GOTY for me, now it's even better ^_^

Sabin, you confuse me. You've made that statemenet numerous times "I wish this game had map notes"
Although I don't currently have it installed, I distinctly remember adding many notes to the map. I was playing the international release FYI. Not really sure if you never noticed the feature, or if you mean something different by "map notes"

=Edit=
Scratch that. Just loaded the English version up and right-clicking the map DOES let you add notes. WTF? I swear, that was NOT in the German version - and I tried doing it when I first installed the English one and it didn't work either :\

So, this game. I need a new RPG to waste my time with. Is this a good candidate?

Absolutely! I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hell, until Risen/DAO - this was my GOTY.

I liked it very much too. Definitely more then Risen. Though it does get a bit worse in the latter half, imo, and ends prematurely, it's not nearly as bad as Risen's epic fail in chapters 3&4.

I really, really enjoyed this game until I got to the ending which I found essentially negated the protagonists basic motivation.
I hate games which do that because it is as if the developers have said "fuck you and all the effort you put into this, our heads are in the sequel."
That's a bad enough stunt to pull if there is a sequel to the saga you have just role-played to the buggery, but nowadays ever inflating budgets and decreasing investment capital means that profitable games can struggle to get funding for a follow up game. Combine that with the good chance that the copyright holders may chose to use different writers and developers the next time and you end up with a powerful argument to make a game completely self contained and stand alone plot-wise.

Anyone know how to get the texture mod to work with the english release of divinity 2? It was originally designed for german release and I guess there might be differences. Doesn't work for me. Most of the screen is black after loading savegame or game quits.

It should work but it was made for the German 1.0 edition and as of 1.02 (Which the English version is based on.) the game already includes higher resolution textures, the ones in this mod are mainly resized and then sharpened to preserve a bit of detail.
Perhaps that's the problem come to think of it, conflicts with the new textures as of 1.02?
(It shouldn't though.)
Another error might be if the patch altered some of the EXE memory addresses that the program TexMod uses to hook to for the texture replacements and that's why it's loaded incorrectly. (Just a guess though.)
A third method is to unpack the .tpf files, extract the texture archives for the game and replace the textures and then repack the archive but this isn't easy and will take time.

In their defense (i learned of that also only after i finished it), they said from the beginning it will be a 3 part game (divinity 1,2,3).
That put aside, i loved how the plot in divinity 2 ended, i so didn't see that coming (seriously).

Interesting to see that this game is still being played aand remembered. Accidently I solved it myself today (after a LONG playtime)
Yeah, it was nice and took very long time to complete. It was ... different, in many aspects, from other RPGs. These ideas with ingredients, item enchantment, the creature, mind reading and what you could do in the tower... nice additions to usual RPG playstyle. I even did like the jump-and-run parts.
The only things I did not like was the graphics engine (required far too much hardware power for what it offered, visible pop-up problems and so on) and the end fight was VERY difficult for a distance fighter due to the restricted area where it took place. Without doing lots of sidequests and item optimization I could not have beaten it, I presume. Well, the ending is also... different (no "happy end" at all... dont wanna spoil it in case somebody has not finished it yet) - nevertheless I look forward to part 3
by the way, happy new year to all gamers.....
regards

You didn't die in Divine Divinity (Or Beyond Divinity.) in the first game you couldn't bring yourself to kill a child despite it being evil and corrupted (Damian) so instead you took care of it, Beyond Divinity had you follow Damian as he escaped banishment (Mentioned a bit in Divinity 2.) only for you to be cast back to the netherworld just as you were about to escape with him.
(And then Divinity 2 followed with it's story, wonder how they'll make Divinity 3, has to be a good ending somewhere after all that, haha.)

Interesting, didn't know there were different endings but it's possible, was a long time since I played either of those games as well but I do remember the ending I got.
(Though different endings are fully possible as the games were pretty open with how you could handle the various quests and similar choices and decisions.)
(Like pissing of a dwarf right at the start of the game by "touching" his ancestor skeleton he kept around or dividing a healing gem or just moving items around a bit in people's houses and other properties, was reduced a bit in Beyond Divinity and there's not much at all left of that in Divinity 2 unfortunately but they have other advantages.)
