if you get the patched/fixed dvd .iso, then it works fine from neogamma. There is no need to patch or anything.

Hmm, maybe I should take some time to fix this, the latest Tales game for wii (Dawn of a new world PAL), also has copy protection, says disc is unreadable.

I also want to add that this works fine with a patched .iso on the latest Dolphin emulator SVN version. Some fog issues at times, but entirely playable.

man i played hell getting this to work. 2 days ago i softmodded mine following the guide at wiihacks that everyone has posted. trying to play the unpatched game in neogamma resulted in the green screen & reboot. used the first patch everyone mentioned and got the same problem.
so i patched it a 2nd time with New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_PROPER_FiX_Wii-iND
and downloaded new_super_mario_bros_wii_req.ios.truncha_fix_wii-ind and installed the ios file from that with cIOS installer. it's IOS53-549something. i dont know if it was the IOS file i installed, the 2nd patch or the combination of the two but that got it working for me. i played it for an hour last night. i did not use the dop-ios thing that comes with the 2nd file mentioned. i repeat did not dop-patch anything, or whatever it's called.
hope this helps someone in the future. took me four hours of reading and trying different things and nothing worked until i did the above.

I can't say for sure, but I would say it has a version higher than 4.1E, so you should not update in any case. As you need a softmod to play this anyway, you don't need to install the update when running it through Neogamme or so.

Well what ever i was doing, the game needed to install the update, so i did and Homebrew still working. Then i checked the ini of the updater and it says "System update 449" and thats the code for 4.41

For the life of me, I can not get this to run. I've tried the original iso, the patched iso, neogamma r8 beta 15, Cios r15 and I've gone from getting just a green screen to crashing to a green screen and then getting the "Error 001 unauthorized device detected".
Can anyone give me some direction? I'm on 4.2U fw

I installed uLoader and it worked first time, neogammer was giving me a green screen.

that version looked like a blast. Some good old mario feeling in that. I particularly liked the boss with the fire and ice ball thingies.

Btw I suggest you guys play New Super Luigi U, it s really cool and really challenging. A lot harder than any recent Mario game.

That Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii is fantastic. I played all of the way through and it's much more fun than any other Mario game in recent memory (and I've also played the New Super Luigi U too).

As much as NSMB U or NSL U look like NSMB in Dolphin, they are still brand new games.
I can understand it s not much of an incentive to buy a WiiU but I think you guys will change your mind when new games will come out for it.
Go play PIkmin 3 on dolphin huh ?
