The updates come on the DVD, check your dash version. Also any xboxes with pre-nxe old blades (like my xenon) will work with it too.

DLCs also work. I wonder how long before MS release dash update which blocks XBR.

I don't think so its patchable now because with hacked dashboard signature is not needed.. but wtihout hacked dash you will need signature so .. will not work.

Maaaaaan. I guess I'll be shopping for a pre-2009 360 then Very Happy This is absolutely fantastic stuff! First we have the new bootloader allowing a Linux install and boot, then we have the restrictions removed from xex signing and can load unofficial software, next there's the patching/hex-editing of XBLA demos to retail - and, most important of all, is that now people can boot games from CDR/DVD5/USB-HDD and install them completely to HDD without need of the media.

I LOVE the scene Laughing

I guess we need to wait a little while to see how the new "crack" method works

either way, that's still a huge progress
there is a lot of hacks going on, on the 360 in the last weeks,it seems like hackers are "nibbles"
the "wall" and it seems they are close to make all of this to collapse,we just need some more rocks to be removed, and the whole wall will be collapse,it's just a matter of time now.

Until it's fixed in the next dash update, or the one after that. XBR is still dependable on latest MS dash to run new games.

Awesome isn't it? I remember my first Xbox and the modchip/UnleashX dashboard. Absolutely amazing machine with so many fantastic options (loved having DVD2Xbox, as it allowed me to rip all my games to HDD - with the app automatically patching the XBE for media checks) Without a doubt, the original Xbox is the best machine for emulation outside of the PC.

hehe there is no way they can fix that.. all protections in future dashboard can be completely patched thats the fun part about it. Smile

We'll have to live and see. Don't get me wrong, I wish 360 homebrew the very best but I'm also being realistic.

It's not hardware thats stopping the JTAG hack, its software.. so I think the early 2009 boxes came preloaded with the older NXE dash.

Another problem is that even if you're dashboard is on an exploitable version, MS might have changed the bootloader already (This only applies to repaired consoles)

However, it still sucks post NXE doesnt work, they should work on that first.

not true, all new 360s with manufacturating date end of June 2009 are shipped with updated bootloader (= no jtag hack)

http://www.xbox-scene.com/xbox1data/sep/EkVAlAVplkZYFwqfvC.php Wink Some guys report they can transform demos into full versions and run them on gamertags that didn't buy them.

Yeah... we already established that... that's why I made my comment.

Does that hex-editing trick work on any X360, or only one running the new JTAG hack? If it's possible to run on any 360, even a banned one, I might buy my friend's 360 if/when he sells it.

It will never work on non hacked 360 (firmware flash is not a hack). That's the whole point of jtag hack and XBR, so you can run unsigned xex's (after modifying xex it becomes unsigned).
