For some reason I had no option to create an offline savegame,go figure...I'm not even sure I had Live games on this PC anyway

Auto save is "automatic" ...... I didn't have to create anything to make it work/save.

Looks like it doesn't have to be exactly GfWL 2.0. I installed V3.0.89.0 from a file called "gfwlivesetupmin.exe" with size of 30.451.472 Bytes found on my Fallout 3 GOTY disc.

True enough, I do believe it's the "latest" GFWL client that caused my and others issues. So in essance you could use probably any older version aside from the one on the DiRT2 DVD. Should have mentioned that, but I just went straight for the next oldest version 2.0. Then again, anyone using the GFWL that came with DiRT 2 and found it to be working and creating a save profile?? I'd imagine it's possible.

I used the one on the Dirt2 DVD, and had no problems. Confused But I already had an existing profile, so it went automatically to offline.

Me too, it went straight to my offline profile as well, but I kept getting corrupt save data.. no matter what. Either way, it works. Thanks for the reply

so could someone maybe set the game to a diff rez from their desktop and see if the game saves that rez please. i would be very, very greatfull!

nobody willing to help me out eh ... figures.

Ignoring the games failings why the heck would your run you games and desktop at different resolutions in the first place? Further more if you have an LCD you should hit yourself over the head with something blunt to knock some sense into that head of yours.

Solution change desktop resolution to 1600x1200 or preferably and assuming an LCD use that LCDs native res for everything.

I'm sure you didn't mean any offense or perhaps you did, either way, I am American for whatever that means. I can say safely, that this game wasn't "designed" to cater to me, or most of the people I know. What I can say is, it seems mostly "designed" for the younger generation. It's very X-Games oriented. Perhaps that is what you meant to say. To just go around insulting Americans is rather Childish as well. If I am wrong and you meant to insult Americans, and spread your hate. Fuck you.

This comment just shows how little you played Shift. I had a few days of intensive Shift sessions, and then tried this crap. Couldn't get used to the awfully arcade controls. If that is what you are looking for, then maybe I can understand the hate for Shift, but saying it's not a good racer is outright bullshit. Also, if you're trying to say that Shift is more arcade than this crap, then also, it is bullshit.

You shouldn't take offense personally. We usually generalize about America, but we know very well that there are sane people as well. Razz But you have to see our point as well in this. CMR series were Rally games, plain and simple, and these games are mainly catered to Europeans, where the sport is mostly popular, just like F1 games. In the US there other off-road sports that are popular, most of which, like most American sports, the world does not like. With Dirt, Codemasters decided to include these American sports to cater to a much larger audience. It also included Travis Pastrama as the narrator, supposedly him being some famous driver in America. It was already a slap in the face of CMR fans, but a gentle one. This on the other hand, with all the idiots going "yo, yo totally smoked out there today, yo" after every race or the outright retarded comments during race (which thankfully you can disable), and making the European off-road racing much less prominent in this game, it's just sad. And it is, at the end of the day, "Americans'" fault, because all these steps were done to cater to the Americans who like "yo yo" Ken Block and "sup dude" Dave Mirra.
Of course, if you look at Need for Speed Shift, it is also made to be liked by all gamers all over the world, with silly stuff like drifting and narrow tracks that the Americans seem to like, and so was Grid, but at least these games were done much more seriously with respect to the sports. No, I do not believe "yo yo, yo smoked out there today yo yo" is paying respect to Rallying, no. Embarassed

Somehow I knew you'd be the one the respond Razz . I agree it's not paying respect to rallying or anything resembling off rorad racing. I was just going after the hate mongering I felt was displayed with his comments. And I do disagree about your end of the day it's Americans fault comment. I mentioned it's very X-games oriented, and to my understanding from what I have seen there are Americans, Aussies, Brits, and a host of others, that are into the yo yo yo bullshit.. I don't care for it either is my point. (you can turn off speech as well) I didn't and do not take any personal offense to the comment, I just felt it was hate mongering. That was the main point I was getting at.

And that Pastrana guy was a dirt bike jumper, his claim to fame, and they apparently just wanted to put another face to the game now that Mcrae is dead. Growing up, one of my favorites sports to watch on tv was rally racing, didn't get to see a lot of it becasue well back in the 70's it wasn't shown a lot here. Now with satelltite tv n such it's rather easy to.

Again I think it caters to a much younger generation that are into the yo yo yo, wether American, Brittish, Austalian, and many European Countries for that matter. The whole game revolves around X-games it seems, and from what I"ve seen of X-games it's rather Global these days. Younger but nevertheless global.

An off handed remark by some jackass does not insult me. It was the generalization that it catered to just Americans is where I felt I had to rebutt. There are jerkoff is this Country, but there are jerkoffs in all the other ones too. I was disappointed in the yo yo yo shit too, and just turned off the speech. Anyway, I wasn't taking offense as I said. Just felt he was mongering his hate, and wanted to set it straight for what it is. Didn't seem to have anything to do with the game, as long as the individual said his hate about Americans. Sad Anyway who gives a shit.

Yeah, I think it's one of the most beautiful sports to watch, even if only for the beautiful vistas involved and the sheer range of them. Smile Used to be my favorite motor-sport, but now I'm warming up to various Gran Prix races and Formula 1. Smile

This game has an unlockable tribute video to colin mcrae and even an unlockable 1995 subaru impreza, is that enough respect to rally?

Laughing

I think the first race, on of the "yo yo, sup dude" tries to pronounce his name. It was very clear it was among the first times that "dude" ever heard and/or pronounced the name. Hilarity ensued.

Regarding the "Rally" aspect, no where in the game title does it say this is a rally game, instead just a mingle of Dirt attributed racing..

But a lot of people don't realise or even know, that after Colin Mcrae left Citroen, this is what he did, a bit of Raid, X-Games, Dakar, and so on...

This game has to be taken with a pinch of salt, tbh i dont really think its much different from Dirt 1, yes the X-Games side has come in, with Pastrana & Mirra who are legends in their OWN sporting genre's, but they are also attributed to racing all the types in this game...

On the whole just a copy of its original predecessor, i was hoping for more.. ...

We need a new COLIN MCRAE RALLY, not this shit. We need a new and good WRC game.

This is a typical game for the typical USA citizen.

Well, it's a two months old news, but Black Bean Studios (an Italian soft.house, lol) has announced that they have a WRC game in development for the PC and consoles.

and it's not a Kayne West statement Laughing
Seriously, SBK09 was a nice (and quite simulative) game, so we could really expect something decent from this point of view. We'll see..

there is no more CMR style game as there is no more NFS style.
the new trend is supersimplified games (giving u the sensation to control everything when cpu is controlling and ure mostly watching), supersimplified internet gaming (mw2, anyone?) and supershadedbloomed graphics.
in one word : consol-ish.
i personally digged out LFS to have some fun lately, so... get RBR Very Happy
