Shit was working fine not a week ago.
I got that last dashboard update from Tekken 6 (since I've been banned for a year now).
I installed MW2 on my HDD this week and played it for a few hours.
Next day, I played some more and some NFS Shift (installed as well) and the discs were spinning like hell in the drive. So I cleared the installations off my HDD and now all I get is "Installation of this game isn't supported". WTF!?!!!? Shocked

From what I've read on another forum, it seems that cock-sucking M$ is somehow bricking HDDs in banned X360 so you can't install shit anymore. Worse, it seems that you can't even recover your profile(s)/savegames to play on an unbanned console as they appear corrupted!

I AM FUCKING PISSED RIGHT NOW!!! Evil or Very Mad

there is a solution;
flash your 360 and never go on xlive, u can still installl new dashboards manually, u getting banned via xlive not via your dashboard
personally i will never go on xlive, not banned yet, install to hdd is way more important to me than some demo's etc. fuck m$ if they think they can force me to buy games 60 euro each in the time of this stupid ass crisis.

btw i have old banned 360 [banned in 2007] which i revived couple of weeks ago after 4th rrod Laughing and it has latest dashboard which i installed via usb stick, and install to hdd still works great, so they brick your profile not your console or hdd

If only I knew about HD-banning I wouldn't have gone online just to check if I was caught or not, I'd have just unplugged the LAN cable forever...damnit

I still wonder why it's illegal to mod the console I paid for...
It's fine banning people's accounts if they're found playing games early but when they ban the console it's most likely cause they don't have proof you played something but rather "saw" you modded it,at least as far as I've gathered from forums

i'm pretty sure they have their own spyware in the dashboard that reports strange activity of your console, games or whatever being unstandard, all this stealz bollox just gives some ppl some false hope that they are ok with

If so,both my friends with modded consoles would've been caught this time too
Instead, only me and my pal got banned so it seems like MS did come chip-checking around April or something, since both the unbanned friends modded their after that month (yet the banned pal bought + modded his around that month)
Then, once November arrives, they unleash the ban hammer on the people previously found

briareos's console is probably revoked now on top of being banned from Live.

When you connect to the internet with your console it gets a dynamic CRL (console revocation list) and you get fucked..and maybe there are other checks too.
With dashboard updates on game discs there is also a CRL which is saved to the console's flash memory ("nand"). The Fall 2008 update carried about 400 console serial numbers.

So they can include serial numbers for revoking in the dashboard updates which you get with new games and then your console revokes itself because it's in the list (you seriously can't believe that the list is just copied there for the hell of it and not used) Smile

To fully confirm it briareos would have to decrypt and extract the list from the dashboard updates and look for his serial number. If I knew how I would tell you but I don't know Sad

what the fuck, you cant recover your gamertag on an unbanned 360? I was considering buying a new one and recovering my gamertag. Also is my HDD 100% corrupted or can I format it and use it again if I buy a used 360?

MS can go rot up with a dick in their mouths. Fucking faggots, as if it wasnt enough banning motherfuckers, now they even break our shit. fucking retards are losing moeny this way. I bought a PS3 and the fuckers aint getting money for live and DLC no more. pure loss for those cunts

you can recover gamertag on a new console and you can use hdd from a banned console on a new console. The only thing ban does is corrupts data on hdd, not hardware itself.

Is there a way to know if a console is banned without risking the hdd disabling ?

Maybe he should just never connect again ?

you can solder some points together making your nand writeprotected, then go online, check if you are banned, get offline again and unsolder.

if you are banned that information can not be saved to the console, if not - great -

would conductive paint suffice for grounding the WP contact? cause if it doesn't and you NEED a wire (especially for those planning to add a switch), i'd think it would be much easier to go the way on the other side of the mainboard:

/edit: scrap the ground point on the pic above, it doesn't have enough mass. here are 2 alternative ones that have been reported to work.
