wasnt it supposed to be different roles, i.e. attack, defense and support, each with its own stack of units ? Including the defense being able to build bases as usual ? At least wiki said so ^^

There is. Support has nothing but air units, which makes it entirely shit as it can be countered by one type of unit. Defense has decent units, mostly zone troopers (as GDI, haven't played NOD defensive yet) and can build turrets. Offense has mostly just heavy ground units. Oh, and units take about 30 seconds to die when getting shot by their counter. There is also no such thing as money in this game, everything is free to produce.
It's pretty shitty in its current state.

It isn't based on keys, it ties to the email account you sign up on EA with (Then used in the game to "log in") although the EA site is reached via a identification key if you are accepted which can be visited once.

Good thing I wasn't saying ALL RTS games not made by blizzard are bad in MP. Not knowing what "pretty much all" means is pretty dumb.
Also, just because you had played 10 or so matches in C&C Generals and had fun doesn't mean it's good, balanced and competitive RTS multiplayer. Is anyone still playing that? I doubt it. There are like 100k (not counting private servers) people playing WC3 and SC online every day for a reason.

Played hundreds of hours on Generals and I still enjoy the occasional match.
Anyways, arguing with the largest troll on this forum is no use.

I was saying that pretty much all RTS games that aren't from blizzard are crap in multiplayer. Then you said you liked Generals multiplayer and called me a troll cos I didn't. Way to pull "iNatan" on me.

Generals was and still is great, especially MP. Only bad thing was that back then the game would really slow down when many units were built. But it was an engine problem AFAIK.
I saw a presentation of this game, it lookes a bit consolised, but then at least they try something new.

Believe it or not this game is still using same old Generals (SAGE aka RNA) engine. 30 fps cap and all that, meh.

its pretty obvious that it is still the same engine, modified sure, but you see it clearly. I agree tho, generals was awesome and it was the last CnC i fucking enjoyed 8(p wise) alltho for me, i never considered it a CNC game (because it wasnt in the cnc universe). Sure enjoyed MP tho, played for like 1-2 years in a competitive league, being in top 20 and several times top 10 in 1vs1 laddder (forget the name but it was the major ladder back then). CnC4 seems just to be some sort of "spam units slash capture the flag (tiberium) mess ... and quite frankly i enjoy R.U.S.E. way too much to give cnc4 any real attention ...
anyway, rts whores out there ... get a ruse invite !

They revised it quite a bit in the latest beta I played. (RC10 or what it's name was.) now you rank up to get units and the game engine was overhauled a bit, haven't played much lately though so it might be different now.

Just played for about 10 minutes and uninstalled it right away. What a piece of crap. This isnt C&C !! The whole idea is gone 
If they wanted to make a game like this, ffs don't call it C&C ... cause it isnt. Everything important to C&C is completly gone. No base building... no harvesting ... only some points to spawn all your units in one go not even with a building queue
Pfff if i preordered this game i would feel raped after playing this shit...
Wtf is wrong with the people who design games ?? Didnt they play the old titles ?? Don't they understand where the real games are all about ??
I hope this isnt the new way of gaming cause i simply can't get used to it
Gaming is kinda dying on me .... allmost all games are a dissapointment lately

It's called mainstreaming or consoling, they don't have a keyboard so the less stuff to do on screen the better. |
