I downloaded a 3D program that was supposed to be great for "generating" terrain/caves and such, but it just Crashed on startup... No reason why was given...
So I decided to "try" 3D Max, so I download the 30 day trial and IT also crashes on startup... Sad

I got ALL the latest drivers/patches/updates and everything right, but still crash...
Installed 4 times thinking that was the problem but still no go... Sad...

Damnit... Noticed that some games crash as well...WTF ???

Should I DL Windows 7 and use that instead of re-installing Vista ???

Any help would be great...

maybe you should rather post this in the autodesk forums as there are far too many reasons why it could crash.

and btw, if you want to get into 3d modeling, i'd suggest you start off with cinema4d instead. it has a far easier learning curve and maybe it even runs on your pc Wink

did you change the viewport acceleration settings by any chance?
you can start it with "3dsmax -h" and you'll get a dialog where you can pick the driver - set it to software, as it's the most safe one
if that doesn't help, delete or move the .ini files and any third party plugins if you have them installed
