for the newest liteons, do u absolutely have to solder/cut the pcb to get it to dump the fw? I just got a box repaired from MS and I think it comes with the newest liteon!!!

I am seriously the unluckiest cunt to ever touch electronics. Drive is dead. I didn't erase it, flash it, nothing. I just dumped all the .bin files, fixed the dummy.bin with the serial info from key points on the PCB, went to MTKFlash32 and boom "drive returned status 0x0" and drive died. Won't power on, won't eject, not on my PC or even back in the 360 itself.
Completely burned out and dead.
FUCK MY LIFE.
I got all the .bin files (Dummy, Identify, Inquiry, Serial, Key) but NOT the "ofw.bin" full firmware backup, since I was never given that option. How do I go about flashing those to another drive as a spoof? :\

*shrugs* Just my luck, mate. What pisses me off is that I didn't even flash or erase the damned thing! Using the CK3 Pro, my PC bluescreened as soon as I went into half-open status on the drive (power CK3 on, press eject, press eject to close, power off as it's half-closed) so that's probably what did it. So how the fuck was that my fault?
I hate this shit. I'm so fucking unlucky it's just not funny.

I think I know why the drive is dead and it pretty much negates me spoofing another drive in future either, lest that one blow too. I just tried to power the drive in the BIOS screen, away from possible Windows buttfuckery, and as soon as I flicked the CK3 from "off" to "on" - my machine had a seizure. Screen went fucking nuts and the machine froze up, then rebooted. Just like it did when I had to power-cycle the drive to get half-open tray during .bin dumping. The first time my PC BSOD'd and had a seizure. The second time it worked fine and I was able to dump the bins.
That's the only explanation I can think of. When I went to MTKFlash32 and it said to power-cycle the drive in quick succession to get 0x72 status (vendor mode) the power must have surged and blew the drive, even though PC still carried on functioning.

but if you have the dummy.bin you can put the firmware on another lite-on (same firmware and revision) or you can spoof your file to go on benq/samsung/hitachi or another version of liteon

The difference between us is I don't laugh at other people's misfortune, regardless of how I feel about them personally. If I myself had done something to cause this (like fucking up the flash) then I'd be pissed at myself, but as near as I can tell; I did nothing wrong except follow the instructions to the letter.

dude it's not dead lol.
Try it with L-O-ERASE + Dosflash16 1.8.
It's not doing anything because there is no firmware to tell it to eject etc.
I dunno but it's really really hard to "kill" a drive while flashing. Just keep those .bin's really secure and don't lose them.
