Jesus H... Mr Butler is sure becoming prolific lately! Still, he's a good enough actor and I've always like Jamie Foxx, so thanks! I'll check this out =)

Worst ending of all time, like for reals. Managed to almost completely ruin an otherwise good movie. Such unplausible pos, can't believe the writer who came up with the rest of the movie had that originally in mind.

so this one does not have a alternate ending?

there is also a Unrated Director's Cut or is that the CROSSBOW release?

Good movie, I didn't think anything was wrong with the ending after the direction the movie took. How he did it should've stayed a mystery imo.

wtf! I can't believe that they used a high quality setting on this one. I've seen alot of 4,7GB movies and most of the looked awesome! 4500kilobit/s isn't a bad rate for 720p. They just selected a high speed preset.

Even the 720p Generation Kill episodes I have have mean bitrate of 8500kbps, and that's just a TV show. Very Happy

Sure, yeah, haha. I meant that usually TV shows don't offer much in terms of details because of the cheaper cameras used, and still GK had enough detail to warrant 8K+. 4K is even embarrassing for DVD standards, let alone HD. Razz

I agree , shadow detail is completely lost in such bit rate starved rips. Waste of time if your the slightest bit fussy about image quality

Thou shalt not judge encodes by their overall bitrate! Sources with little motion and grain need less bitrate.
Take a look at this x260 CRF 19 encode that ended up at 1400 kBit/s:

Yes, that's true, but generally speaking, a CRF encode of 18 usually ends up with higher mean bit-rates of much more than 4K. Also, I doubt most people here even know what a CRF encode is anyway. Laughing
And a final notice, scene and non-scene encodes are predominantly 2-pass encodes because precise sizes cannot be assured in CRF encoding (ie DVD9, DVD9+DVD5, etc), so judging these encodes by their bitrate is indeed the proper method. Wink

Most scene releases are very simple encodes, expecting the highest quality would be dumb. The scene is retarded with all the ancient rules anyway. The problem is that most people don't care about bitrate and such. Give them a shitty rip in 1080p and it's all good. IQ isn't important, the "I'm watching 1080p how cool am I?" feel is.
The best encodes I've ever seen were 1080p releases for Band of Brothers, non-scene. The files were huge though, 12Gigs average for 50-60 minutes.

Not sure what you are talking about, as 12Gigs * 10 is the same size as the retail HDDVD, which is pointless, unless you got some repackaging of the streams. Confused

I remember it as an x264 encode, so it wasn't a remux of the original source. Maybe I'm not remembering the size correctly, but I do remember it was bigger than a normal scene rip. Especially since it was a TV show with 60 minute eps. It did look beatiful, I haven't seen any more rips like that.

and hopefully
The Pacific
at some point

BTW, you haven't seen a beautiful rip (or source) until you've experienced Plant Earth.

actually the scene release of generation kill is not bad, but this was only because it was an odd size ... 1/2 DVD9 for 60 minutes isn't bad Smile

Quote:
Generation.Kill.Pt.VI.Stay.Frosty.720p.Bluray.X264-DIMENSION
1280 x 720 23.97
2pass x264 @ 7014 kbps

*** Notes ***
4070 = DVD9/2 so actually does fit media, adheres to all bitrate min/max, and was in our opinion, the best fit for these.
