New info from the newest CD-Action:
- The ponytail on Geralt's head will be gone from the final version (thank god)
- The new self-made engine made by CD Projekt removes the restrictions of Aurora- now you can jump or slide on objects.
- The game no longer loads when you enter houses/rooms.
- The AI is completely redone from the previous game, now when you start a fight in the middle of the street, people around you step back and are afraid of you. Also every NPC has its own routine, you won't see the same guy sweeping the street every time you pass through a certain location.
- There is a new dialogue system, the people speaking will now express emotions and gesticulate, and the camera during the dialogue will be dynamic.
- The sequel starts immediately after the first one ended Spoiler: | Right after you protect the king from being assassinated | . Geralt will soon find out that there's powerful magic behind the assassinations.
- PC version and PC players are CD Projekt's target, the console versions will probably be released later.

Direct quote from CD-Action preview:
Quote: | The basis of the fighting system- that is combination on clicking on the enemy at the right moment- remains unchanged, but there are some novelties to it. One of these novelties is the implementation of QTE. Don't worry though, The Witcher II definitely won't become a simple slasher, that you can win just by clicking colorful buttons displayed during scripted scenes. QTE are supposed to make fighting more spectacular. Another new addition is the finisher moves. In the leaked video you can see Geralt snapping a guard's neck with one hand- the only word that comes is "badass". Havok physics are also in the game, making the use of signs like Aard even more useful- now you can send them flying to the end of the precipice or throw barrels at them. |

Pass for me then, can't stand these types of games, like games such as Risen/Fallout3 where you do the hacking n slashing all yourself rather than mindlessly clicking on enemies, find that tedious and lacking immersion.

Sounds awesome. I'm just hoping they don't rush with release. First one was in development for ages and despite that it wasn't as polished as one would hope.

This is definitely my nr 1 anticipation this year. All seems to be going the right way too.
I wouldn't really compare those two games (Witcher and DA), they are very different, and it's hard to judge them side by side. There are some things i liked better in one, some i liked better in the other.
I definitely liked DA's combat a lot more, I do believe Witcher's combat to be head&shoulders above Fallout 3 though. On the other hand, despite Bioware's best efforts Witcher's world seemed a lot grittier and more real. Closer to the earth, i would say, which i liked. It also felt more morally challenging, possibly because choices weren't so oversaturated, even though it was fitting for DA's Dark-Epic atmosphere mix.
Both great games in their own way.

Pointless argument.
I liked DA better becouse I like tactic/strategy combat. But in RPG for me is not combat which is most important.

Well it's not that good. They didn't get much profit from the first game (didn't get any loss either). But with "economic crysis" CD Projekt Red isn't in such good shape
That's why they cancelled Witcher for consoles (that + crappy 3rd party developer) and They (which didn't stand out from average shooter) - after merging with Metropolis Software(?).
I would not mind Witcher 1 and/or 2 for consoles when it doesn't break/have big chenge on PC game. It would shurely burst some sales and secure the company for Witcher 3

Rumors say late 2010. But CD Project Red isn't known for their sticking to timetables so I think it would be in Q1 or maybe Q2 of 2011. But i don't think 2010 realese date is official, so thats somewhat speculation.

C´mon! Loved the first one, and: It was better then DA. What is lacking in the withcher is a free roam world, or a map world like the tiny litle minuscule square of a map in DA, to travel about in yer white horse
Gee, at least in Baldurs gate u had a real map, not some 4 dungeons and battles in between...

Damn it I want to play the first one again but dont have the time. I loved it until I got to the swamp. For me the game just died from then on, but I might give the enhanced edition a chance.
Loved the grittines of it, and people yelling "your mama sucks dwarf cock", imo one of the best game quotes/insults ever!

I loved it (scratch that, I ADORED it) until I got to Trade Quarter, where my framerate dropped by 80%. Yes, it is a very crowded area but we're also talking about engine limitations and/or perhaps even poor coding. Broke the immersion big time for me.
Let's hope that, this time, with no Aurora around, we'll have a much better tech. performance.

My recomendation: play the enhanced version with that flash mod(optional insane difficulty). Much better performance and with the mod its actualy much more tactical.

honestly i thought the trailer sucked.... maybe not sucked, but it wasnt good.
the game, dont get me wrong, looks great - but this was a pretty poorly made trailer... didnt have that epic feel. go check out the launch trailer for me2 to see how a trailer SHOULD be done.
game looks wicked though, cant wait for it.

One of the best RPG's in a long time... beats Bioware's stuff quite handily I have to say. I thought the combat system was pretty fun too, although fighting drowned dead was annoying as fuck and Bioware's engines suck balls.
This is a must buy for me...lets hope the load times aren't as bad as when the first one was first released and unpatched.
