If someone ever updated this website, would all of the threads etc still be here?

Maybe this is just for Rinze but I'm not an expert in forum software Smile

people update forum software all the time without losing the database. But since this seems to be an older and somewhat heavily modified version of phpbb, i doubt updating is that easy on the code-side of things.

This, on my uni forum we want to update phpbb3 to a never version, but since we have quite a few custom mods, we need to be really careful when upgrading, because newer updated version might not be compatible and could screw up the forum. But that's why you have backup, just in case something goes wrong.

But what happens when you then go check your backup folder and you find only a 'Note to Self - IOU.txt' that only says: "Sorry, used this space for some porn, remember to backup the stuff somewhere else."

FYI, PNG supports transparency.

As long as I'm aware of forum upgrades happening (the previous time I wasn't informed, so we started fresh back then) I'll make sure to convert post history to any new format. Upgrading is something I want to do, but there are a lot of changes that have to be made to any new software to keep it compatible with other sites, site features and software that uses the forum database.

I know but I can't emulate cleartype in photoshop cs3 in a simple way, so I just did it with a simple screenshot and rotating the part of the text Smile

And of course the thing I feared the most happened. My uni's forum has crashed. That is, the server crashed, and the forum wasn't only thing on that server :\

Well there's a lesson to be learned here: only upgrade with a stable version of Debian running on the server, or else you might crash the whole thing down Very Happy Sad I just hope that the backup will work :\

Yep, that's right. We all lost our post counts last time. Jeez, how long ago was that? 5 years ago or something?
