The version in the beta is often few months of development older than their current internal version. (It was like so with few MMOs I played). So it's quite possible the actual release version will feature a much more polished product.

In any case I preordered as I'm not really bothered by technical issues in games.

if so, where is the exit from the weapon lab?^^

Great, the Treasure Trading Station has the exact same problem as Starbase 24. Crash to desktop about some "Texture locking" error.

Yeah, the AA is disabled on ATI cards because of a serious bug. Apparently it caused some graphic anomalies during closed beta.

I think I've pretty much either been skull-fucked by a bug, or I've done something incredibly INCREDIBLY bad to my character/ship.... as now I struggle to take out practically any ship except the small fighters. Two DUAL beam weapons, two DUAL cannons, all firing at the same time - each with at LEAST 145DPS, and I'm not even scratching the enemy. When I eventually take down their shields, they recharge INSTANTLY. If I do manage to score hits on the enemy hull, it flashes up tons of numbers between 75 and 150... but their health just doesn't change at all. My last battle against two "Bird of Prey" vessels, who were -4 levels under me, took me down to almost zero hull and shields, and around 2-4mins of intense firepower before they finally died.

My old Light Cruiser with LESS weapons did more damage than this.

Fucking great.

Well I'm bored of this already, too many bugs and issues marring an otherwise awesome game. I'm gonna knock it on the head for now, maybe check back in six months or so when Cryptic pull their fingers out their asses and fix this shit.

did you upgrade your beam weapon skills ?

took me a while to notice i can scroll down the skill lists and discovered a shitload of new skills *g*.

oh and also, yes, combat gets tougher and tougher ... at some point, you're against ships whose shield reg is higher than your DPS

Yes, of course I did. I'm Lv11 now, so only just got access to dedicated Beam Weapon skills.. and, as I said, the enemies aren't tougher; they're often 4 levels BELOW.

made a klingon character now, fun play (guess its mainly pvp oriented gameplay) and remade a completly new fed character (my first ones skilltree was so fucked up it wasnt even funny haha).

Going with a science vessel now with a tactical first officer.

fuck the subspace silence mission. perfectly easy until the last fight. I can't get the ship down to anything less than 97% before he wastes me. He's got an attack of 4 torpedoes which basically blows away my shields and takes like 80% hull off, which is almost always an instant kill. its also a solo mission.

yeah..its stupid. I'm sure you have to drop their shields and maybe beam off, but the shields are tough. I can't seem to find anyway to crack it.

I've been having a lot of trouble against shields to, on practically all vessels. It takes a veritable ONSLAUGHT of attacks before they drop, and when they finally do; they regenerate immediately. Not 3s later, but instant.

It's pretty much killed the game for me now, completely unplayable Sad

You have to punch it long enough to disable the shields. As soon as you do it, a msg will come out prompting to beam the hostage on board and get the hell out of there. It's pretty easy, IMHO.

EDIT: I hear all the problems you're having with the game being too difficult. I feel your pain, but maybe there's an explanation. You have to finish the Admiral missions first. Those give you a number of ship improvement which lowers the difficulty a bit. I was stuck with a patrol mission for a bit, then finished all the admiral missions, and I was able to continue on.

I'm Lt-Cmdr now mate, already have my Escort ship and a ton of weapons on it. Never had ANY problems with mission difficulty until I went from Lt to Lt-Cmdr, now everything is practically impossible -- even against enemies considerably lower level than me.

I do recall getting the shields low once, but then they instantly regenerated. I don't think I fully knocked them out.

Maybe you guys stumbled upon a bug. I entered this mission with the away team, and with one single hit my shield completely dried out. I couldn't get into aiming mode either, so something was definitely off.

Sorry if my comments sounded too basic. Didn't know you were so ahead of me in the game Wink

Aye, I've had the "cannot enter aim mode" and "WTF?! One shot takes all my shields AND half my health!" glitches too Sad Seriously, I want this game ALMOST as much as I want SW-ToR and the next Longest Journey instalment... but at this stage; it's just not ready for launch.

Worse is that they've just opened the REST of the game and remove the level cap! WTF? Why not, yanno, fix the shit that's broken in EXISTING content first? Morons.

What's interesting is that right now I've seen on their forums that the space combat level has been drastically _reduced_ and someone is complaining it's too easy. Have you checked your problem out recently?

Try buying some cheap phaser or something and see if it's the weapons that's broken or your character/ship.

Oh, and that hostage ship is wayy too hard for soloing. I mean hell, when I did it he took down my shield and 50% hull with one torpedo barrage.

Just did Briar Patch myself. Wasn't a hard mission, just quite annoying.
