Ok, sorry if this has been said before but... is there any way to force anti-aliasing? (NVIDIA card) I just started up the game and even the menu screen is a jagged-edge fest...

Im several hours into the game and :

great graphics and atmosphere Smile Exactly like in ME1

There is armor colorization & customization - yay

but.. um.. there are several things that bug me like hell...
no switching helmet on and off Smile i must do it from the ships station.. which.. sucks..

major problems..

no weapons hotkeys... it's a fucking PC god damn it, is it so fucking hard to have those "extras"... switching weapons is terrible..

Also the rpg system is pretty dumbed down.. several skills, even fewer for companions.. it's not looking very good

Also i'm playing on hardcore with vanguard - like in the previous game.. and damn this class blows terribly..

The charge skill = instant suicide on that difficulty level.. The only way winning is cover firing.. that's rather lame class balance compared to the difficulty scaling..

*sigh* Couple hours last night. Every fear has been founded, every complaint vindicated.

It's a brainless shooter, nothing but. Yes it has beautiful graphics, amazing audio, and typically epic ME storyline, but the GAMEPLAY is lacklustre at best - and the combat, yanno the thing you spend 90% of your time doing? is absolutely HORRIBLE. The POV is cramped and painful, it's a pure TPS in every way and the camera angle is annoying as piss, and the actual combat itself feels like it was tacked on artificially.

Exploration? Oh sorry, we removed that. Just follow paths A to B and you'll be WINRAR!
Customisation? LULWUT!? Oh.... welllllll, you can change the colour of your armour! You can use pointless minigames to gain MATERIALS to upgrade any one of your FOUR weapons!
Character progression? Teehee, naw... but you can upgrade your BULLET SKILLZ!!!11

So sad.

*shrugs* I'll continue to play it because I want the story, but the game is massively disappointing. Does anyone else remember another FAILGAME that used "Universal Ammo Clips" Rolling Eyes

I didn't expect anything, but this is honestly even more disappointing.

Can anyone give me details about dialogue choices, quality of quests, possibility of multiple resolutions, alternate quest lines, choices with meaningful consequences, degree of interactivity with NPCs? Have they at least improved the sidequest side (e.g. no more consoletardish planets that look all alike?)

Anyway, I suppose you'd better (re)play Space 1889, Planet's Edge and Sundog Frozen Legacy if you want a good space CRPG rather than this.

You can change how many "rows" you scroll when using your mousewheel. The option is in your control panel. Make it really sensitive and then see if it bugs you in other games.

I'm glad I read the impressions here before wasting 14 gigs of my ratio.

No to all.
I mean-low, low, no, no, no.
This is not an RPG, more like TPS with dialogues and cool story.
But i like Jack.

Great. Or rather not.

Very disappointing, tried it for a bit just now. The "RPG side" of things is completely dumbed down, and that is saying something since ME1 wasn't exactly the deepest in that area either. The shooting feels a bit better than the first game but the payoff is not *nearly* enough. It still doesn't hold its own as a "shooter game", not even close.

The new minigames are bleh, and what's worse, they have the potential of taking *much* longer than the crappy hacking minigame in the first game. Tedious as hell.

Even with medium expectations (I wasn't crazy about the first game but I had decent fun on my first playthrough) this is really disappointing.

So the Vanguard, my favorite class from ME1, is absolutely useless in this one. Playing on Insanity difficulty. I handled it no problems at all on ME1, pretty much breezed through it, but as they removed the Barrier skill from it, the class is useless.

Also, what's with barely being able to change mouse sensitivity? It's either high, very high, or insanely high.

Seems like all the people above who are complaining didn't like ME1 neither, so personally I'm not that worried that it sucks Smile
Hopefully in a day or two some hardcore gamer will finish it and then we will have some more valuable info about game's quality.

Shepard. Bad alien ships.
A lof of guys and alien sex.
Shepard is the first intergalactic member of SpecOps(Specters in game) among humans.
Shepards kills a traitor and a bad alien ship.
That's all.

Absolutely pathetic. So now you brush off complaints about the game by people who disagree with your limited viewpoint? "valuable info" Here's some news for you chief; ME1 was one of my absolute favourite games and, unlike you I wager, I BOUGHT mine.

BOTH versions (360 and PC) and BOTH sets of downloadable content on BOTH versions.

It's not THAT bad.. Game play is nerfed (more shooter, less adventure), the RPG elements have been cut to just a few bits. BUT the story is still captivating, it looks and renders gorgeously, the actors, animations and style is awesome.

It's a compromise. The game play is not as good as ME1, but ME1 was amazing. If ME1 hadn't existed and ME2 would just be called Mass Effect, people wouldn't be disappointed. It's the comparison that puts ME2 game play to shame. I still enjoy it though.

Agree completely! Hell, my wife said the same thing mate - and I *personally* said the same thing about FFXII; if that was the first of the series I'd played, or if it was called something else, then I wouldn't have been disappointed.

Yup, the story is still great - but I miss all the little things, I hate the streamlining, I hate the new combat system Sad
