I've only died once so far and that load time was forever even from HDD like you said Spiderman. All in all the game rocks but they could of done a better opening sequence like the first one and its a shame they removed a couple of things.

At least it seems to have the same length as the first game. Almost 7 hours into the game, and got 3 more members to recruit Wink

Me too.

I grabbed both versions and there isn't a thing between them.
To lose inventory, stats and most importantly for me tactical combat is abhorrent.

Bioware led us to believe that ME2 would have a similar design set to DA:O what a con.

I will post this here as well, because I think it is relevant.

This entire game feels awful lot like Modern Warfare 2. Huge production values, technically a lot better, but it's just empty in the inside in every possible way, and not just the removed features. The story, characters, art direction. All seems overdone and made to appeal to a certain crowd, and that is hugely disappointing.
For me this is typical megalomania by developers who can't get over themselves (or EA).

Even the music is complete bollocks. Where is the Vangelis-inspired masterpiece of the first one? Now it's the usual generic over-melodramatic sci-fi crap that is heard in every sci-fi game. Would have even preferred the Dark Void soundtrack by Bear McCreary (same guy that scored BSG).

Interestingly, similar transformation was observed with Prince of Persia Warrior Within, and eventually Ubisoft came to their senses and went back to what made The Sands of Time great with The Two Thrones. Here is a hoping that BioWare and EA will come to these senses as well in time for the third game.

Warrior with In is the best game in the Prince of Persia sands of time series,Imo. T2T was the weakest game, but still great.

I concur on all points. Yet another stand out creative franchise brought down by the mediocrity of mass appeal. Its not like the original had unforgiving difficulty or the RPG elements were overly deep, it had a great balance for a mainstream audience I thought. Being a hard sci-fi fan, I can not forgive the apparent watered down tone of the narrative thus far. But will reserve final judgment until I complete it.

Why not just eject the disc when it tells you to switch, then put disc 2 in? It should read the game without the activate.iso.

Yeah i also like it a ton its more action focused but thats not a bad thing in my opinion, what made the first game so great were the conversations in my opinion and they are still there and i think as good as ever.

Having a hard time pulling me away from this one, already on dvd2...

I was on DVD2 @ the 10 hour mark.
But I think that happened because I went exploring (instead of just following the mission).

..... I'm kinda scared for the overall length now. People are "exploring" and they're saying 7-10hrs is GOOD for midgame? ME1 took me 49hrs to finish on my first playthrough, exploring everything.

*sigh* Fuck you EA.

I've just tested disc 2 but I've got '"Open Tray" instead of a Mass Effect 2 image on my dash.
A badly burned disc I think or is this normal?

edit: I'm not at the point yet where you have to swap to disc2 FYI

@sabin1981
dont be scared
i played through me1 in 19h and it looks like me2 is a bit longer, so if it take you 49h for me1 itll take you 60 for 2 Wink i just dont explore everything.
overall in my opinion me1 was 85% and me2 is 95% (not through the whole game yet but its pure awesomness until now)

If you didn't play the first ME1 then you will not find anything to complain about. Basically this(ME2) a great game.

I played the first ME but never completed it. Maybe thats why Im not really complaining much about ME2. Completely loving this game so far

The game is ok, kinda like the first one.
The graphics seem identical, there's less pop-in, the faces and animations are still kinda stiff and robotic, the dialogue is ok but feels mostly forced i dunno why, the alien design is cool, character detail is mostly good, every single cutscene is plagued with stutterings and massive framerate drops (though not as bad as the first), the cinematic direction is mediocre. The VA is, again, like in the first, pretty sterile and the main character feels more bored than ever, but in some ways the atmosphere and story are more interesting than your average braindead action/RPG game, at least they are trying.
Worth playing, if you don't have other games laying around.

Exactly what I did. Played the first one on my xbox but decided to go with PC version for this one. Runs flawless with perfect framerate
