There are only 3 weapons in the AR class. The regular Assault Rifle, the Battle Rifle, and the Light Machine Gun.
Just acquired Legion myself. Awesome.

No, silly, I mean on a mission I found while exploring a planet. It was a horrible mission too... had to choose between saving several thousand lives, or wiping out the economy on the planet - forcing everyone to leave anyway

about the council and stuff

Agreed. Besides, the Council said you are officially *not* a Spectre, as far as the public is concerned, but you have free reign to do what can to help the Alliance out in the Terminus System.
Also, I finally made it to Illium (been saving it for hours) and I bumped into an Asari with a message..... from the Rachni queen I saved in the first game! Looks like the Rachni, thanks to my help, are going to be a major force in ME3 when we finally take the fight to the Reapers.

Seeing as how I've seen numerous references to ME3, as well as a ton of characters and other so-far-inconsequential actions, I'm hoping the wait between this and ME3 isn't as long as the wait was for ME2. I really can't go ANOTHER two years without some more ME story goodness!

Umm no, I'm sure I was reinstated. They later comment that although the council won't help, it's good to have the title for later - for political reasons.

Did the same but they tell you that you can't use your title in the citadel space, only in the terminus system for now.

Same, exactly they same here! That's what happened to me too, I used the charm option - they thought I'm delusional and a traitor, and that I cannot use the Spectre title or privileges inside Alliance territory, only in the Terminus System.

I just met him on Illium and he's fucking wacko. Pretending to be me, acting all tough because apparently "you stuck a gun in my face, made me realise I had to toughen up" WTF? I did no such goddamn thing. That was the Renegade option! I used the PARAGON option of TALKING him down from wanting to join the Spectres, to just go back home and be a good husband.
Stupid game got it all backwards and now Conrad is some dumb shit, flying around the galaxy pretending to be me.

| Spoiler: | as said, i wasnt reinstated, but i could still do the intimidate 'im a spectre' even before the lawyer came in. thane noted its probably the shortest interrogation in the history of law enforcement  |
all the stuff that didnt go as planned makes me want to do a 2nd playthrough with the renegade. i guess ill wait for cracked DLC or something and then go at it! would love to have archangel with me in ME3 after all, + some other stuff

Well this actually kinda makes me feel somewhat better for spending the extra 10 bucks, cause hey at least I'll get to replay the game with different armor.
Oh also was wondering, if you have no ME1 save game, are you stuck with the default stuff?

Without a prior save, the game makes certain key choices for you.

Wrex is dead.
Ashley survived if you're a male character, Kaidan survives if you're a female.
Council died. Udina in place of Anderson.
Probably other stuff too, not really sure.

The rest, the small stuff, is asked of you - as you say - in a KoTOR 2 style conversation.

Fully upgrade the Normandy.
Recruit EVERYONE, even if a *certain* new recruit conflicts with an existing one 
Successfully accomplish each crew member's loyalty mission.
Send your squad on the suicide mission in the CORRECT order.
... I've also heard making sure everyone has the top-end equipment helps, but I've also heard people finishing it without that. Do it as a matter of course
