Also, savegames will still be stored locally, confirmed by Ubi developer.

HOWEVER
| Quote: | | It will require a permanent net connection, however it will also require very little bandwidth. |
I can imagine how fucking bad that sounds (you basically rent a game) but :
a) we can just get RLD/Razor/SKIDROWSHIT release when it comes
b) most of us have have a broadband connection
c) Ubisoft is not likely to fall in the nearest years, so authentication servers will probably work anyway
d) wasn't in the same case with GTA IV? You had to login to your Social Club account...
EDIT: Ubi developer clames that the new protection is "very hard to crack":
| Quote: | | Speaking as one of those legitimate consumers (I genuinely love my PC gaming), I can say that as much as possible has been done here to ensure there are benefits rather than frustrations. The way the system is designed is to ensure that it's very hard for the pirates to "crack". It's a very different system to before where there was just code to strip out. |
EDIT2: There are plans to remove protection further after the release date, it applies to all Ubisoft games:
| Ubi.Vigil wrote: | | NeonXXV wrote: |
Let's say, for the sake of the argument, that Ubisoft will become bankrupt and close. How am I going to play AC2 then? |
For all future titles using this copy protection, there are contingency plans to release a patched version that removes the copy protection, just like Valve have said they'd do should Steam shut down. It's also possible we'd do this further in the life cycle of a title, as was done with Far Cry 2's copy protection. |

You don't own the copy to it. If you installed it, you agreed to the EULA. If you agreed to the EULA then you agree that what you have spent cash on is not the software itself but a license to use said software.
None of us owns games unless we created it ourselves. What we do have are licenses to play these games.

and that's only one reason why they are superior products compared to the original, some assholes should work on putting out a better product not jerk off on new protection schemes.

So now we know the real reason to the delay to the pc version... implementing some stupid and annoying copy protection to further annoy genuine buyers. Sigh, boobisoft when will you learn??
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Meh, at least we get DLC for "free" (I mean, 60$ price tag..). Besides, it's still a very good game, and the resssolusssion will be better!

They can put all protection they want on this, i wont buy it and i wont even leech it.. its suck.. Better lose myself in the new Witcher this year! their developers can use the money for all the support they have given.

I guess that's the big protection ubi was talking about sure, make every part of the game online, fuck it, let the user download the WHOLE game from the servers every time he wants to play, I can't wait to see the reaction when some people can't play, or save, when their connection goes down, this shit is nothing new.

Um they did with that last Prince of Persia game that had no protection and resulted in it geting pirated to hell and back, so can you really blame them?
Not that I really care about either side of the argument since I'm not really interested in the game and will most likely be spending cash on Bad Company 2. lol
Edit:
OH WAIT WHAT?
They're planning on doing something like Steam Cloud for all their future games? WTF? Why not just use Steam?

Yeah it getting pirated wasn't the result of no copy protection. Crappy DRM just screws the paying people.
60$ price.. anyone who even thinks about paying that for a PC game needs to be shot. People even know why it's 10$ more on consoles?
