Meh,I guess I'll just play it tomorrow anyway,but it still sucks how they gifted the demo to the 360 users so nicely this morning and now we're just fighting over leftovers here and there

Restarted my Steam Client and now "Battlefield Bad Company 2 Beta" was available for install, but it seems to be rather slow...peaked at 300kb/s, now it's lurking around 100kb/s. Usually I peak at around 7-8mb/s on Steam.

They said there won't be even any connection between retail and steam versions (can't use retail key to get game from steam), so i'd guess it's pretty safe to say that no - you can't get the beta that way.

You could try changing your location in connection settings, to get a better server.
