Actually, there's more stuttering further down the road. I'm likely around the middle of the story, and there have been a handful of occasions wehe I had to save and reload to get rid of the glitch. This was quite annoying when there was a long in-game cutscene. Hell, I had dinner in the meantime, ffs.

On the social Bioware forum are a lot of people with the same problem.
From what i read on that thread the Tech/Support/EA are trying to figure out the problem. The thing is that there is no date specified for the ''fix/patch''.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/772168/27
http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/804826

I've played the game until i got to the planet were ashley is and the collectors are attacking.I stopped playing because i think to story really gets on fire here, so i don't want to miss anything, not even the cut scenes, and of course is getting really annoying with all the lag, even if it stops after a load game.I just want to play the game in all his glory.
The weekend is coming so i have 2 days of free time from work.I hope something comes up that fixes this problem.

These are 2 sites that can help with different problems that players have:

Thanks for the heads-up and the links, mate. It's reassuring that BioWare are looking into the problem.

OK!

Temporary solution:

Go to your Binaries folder.Right click on Mass Effect 2.exe and make a shortcut of it on your desktop.
After you've made the shortcut, right click on the shortcut on your desktop and click properties.
Select the ''Shortcut'' tab and on ''target'' after ''MassEffect2.exe'' leave 1 space and put this :

-nomoviestartup

My shortcut looks like this: ( this is an example - The drive letter that i have installed mass effect 2 is D. Yours might be different.Like C,E,F...etc.)

"D:\Mass Effect 2\Binaries\MassEffect2 .exe" -nomoviestartup

The nomoviestartup disables all loading screens,CGI movies, startup movies/Logos.Basically this removes ALL MOVIES/BIK files.
You'll have no more stuttering/lag.

I'm waiting one more day to see if something comes up.If not i'm going with this.

Hmm thanks HYScriminal, I'll try that out and keep looking at the links. Although I do feel like I would be missing a bulk of the game without the CGI movies.

So, the problem, after all, *is* related to those goddamn .bik movie files. I wonder if there's gonna be a solution without removing all videos. Anyway, thanks for the info, it's appreciated.

The first patch that's gonna be released soon will NOT fix the lag/stuttering issue.
The second patch ( the date for the patch is ETA ) will fix the problem even for the single core users from what i understood.

Yeah that's right, HYS. It was in your first link, I think pg 44 or 45 where one of the guys from bioware stated that this stutter is thoroughly a single core processor issue.

Dual core etc who experience this issue is because for some reason the game or OS is recognizing only one core

But good news is that there will be a patch for it even though it is ETA. Maybe I will just wait for it instead.

So, has anyone had any success in resolving the issue? I've hit a brick wall with a black screen coming up when attempting the "suicide mission". I was using the single-core "fix" and occasionally the -nomoviestartup switch before that.

I think if I recall what was said on the forum in the bioware links above, for that mission you have to go through the stuttering to get past the black screen.

Problem is, I can't. There's no stuttering, just the black screen. And if I put back the loading screens, then the game hangs up on one.

Just to clear things up: the mission I'm talking about is the one where you have to take the shuttle, because the Normandy is unavailable due to problems with the IFF.

All greetings.

I do not understand English (I'm from Ukraine). But here's the patch, made by a Russian craftsman for solving the problem of single-core processors. This patch was made for Silent Hill, but also works with ME2.

Need to unpack the contents of the archive to a folder Binaries. The green loading screens should be abandoned.

Surprising that workers BioWare has not done what was done by one person.

http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/106/index/905917/8

Download this: http://bioware.ru/forum/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=22920

Extract the content in the binaries folder. It solves the stuttering that you get after a bik movie plays. You will still get stuttering after a loading screen from what i understood from the other ME players.

It sucks that I've struggled through the game once already and now can't be arsed to replay it. Thanks for the fix, regardless.
