I don't know if it's a mistake or not, but this is the official site

Looks like it's coming on the PC too afterall (?)
Will it be the same crappy PS2 hybrid or will we have the direct conversion of the 360/PS3 version? Too many unresolved questions...
Anyway the first hypotesis is still the most probable.

EA SPORTS FIFA Online Announced!
29 Jan 2010
A new, free, downloadable football game for PC is unveiled.
Electronic Arts announced today development of a free-to-play*, downloadable game called EA SPORTS FIFA Online. The game will make its most popular and highest rated** videogame franchise available to football fans with a broadband Internet connection and an average-spec laptop computer or desk-top PC.
The free-to-play EA SPORTS FIFA videogame will call on football fans and gamers to help shape features during closed beta testing prior to its English-language European open beta release in June 2010.
"Listening to and engaging football fans has been one of the driving forces behind the success of our FIFA franchise and now we are inviting European football fans - in mass numbers and earlier than we ever have before - to help us develop a new football game," said Executive Producer Kaz Makita.
"Fans will determine the features that matter most, and at the end of this process our goal is to deliver a game for fans looking for a quick football fix at home or at work.
"There are a large number of football fans who do not want a console gaming experience due to time and other priorities in their personal lives, but they still want to be able to play a top-quality football videogame. FIFA Online will be designed specifically for them."
Beginning 3 February, football fans across Europe are invited to register to participate in the closed beta development and testing of FIFA Online by visiting http://fifa-online.easports.com.
More than 20,000 fans will be involved in the first phase of closed beta testing and then, during open beta in June, hundreds of thousands of fans will test the game, providing feedback directly to the game's developers through exclusive discussion forums.
EA SPORTS FIFA Online will be released around the world in stages. The English language version will be available to all football fans in June 2010. Over the next 12 to 24 months, FIFA Online will launch in other languages across Europe and then in North America. Non-English speaking football fans will also be able to participate in the development process of these games.
EA SPORTS FIFA Online will offer an authentic football experience with 30 licensed leagues, 500 clubs and more than 15,000 players. During the first closed beta stage, the game will feature a 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa tournament mode and a control system that uses the mouse only. At the second stage of closed beta, the game will feature a League Mode that enables fans to manage and compete as their favourite football club, and the ability to play online matches. FIFAOnline will enable football fans and gamers to build their favourite club into their dream team by developing or acquiring players, upgrading skills, and getting unique apparel by earning in-game currency to acquire items or through micro-transactions. Additional content will be designed for the game based on feedback by fans.

I have to be honest. FifaOnline actually doesn't look bad for being a free game
Basically it's identical to FIFA 10 (pc), with improved turfs and mouse control:

Laughing Fifa's shitness is a constant unrelated to the contest, but at least it's better than a browser game (or maybe not?)

Yeah, of course. They just keep screwing PC users over with an IMMENSELY inferior version compared to the console one.

They say they can't make the console version for the PC. I don't know why. If it can be made for Xbox then it can be made for PC. Maybe it will be with some problems like GTA and will requite several cores to run properly but it can be done.
But now that they don't, they REALLY should stop selling this amazingly crappy shit (Fifa for PC).
It's simply cheating the customers. Perhaps someone tried Fifa on console and thinks: "hey, I want that game for my PC!", then goes out and buys Fifa PC and comes home and is met with the PC gamings equivalent to a bad case of diarrhea.

Would be great if they would release the good version for PC, though so one could pirate it, as I already said. Damn, they deserve that!

It's not a multi-cores problem or anything like that.PES 2010 gfx on pc are ten times better than Fifa 10 on consoles. The problem is that the consoles fifa team denies to port the game.Fifa pc users just want the gameplay and physics elements from the console version.

They might have coded it so it is quite dependant on several cores. I believe that was the case with GTA...

Still, I also think they should release it for PC, of course.

As fearwhatnow said, it's clearly not a multi-cores related problem. It's just a managerial choice made by Peter Moore (who actually head the sports division at Electronic Arts) in order to keep the console sales intact, since this market is actually a huge source of income which could be hurted if they decided to release a PC version identical to the console one.
This is their opinion, though.

No, the actual issue, and it has already been confirmed on multiple sources in a span of many years, the reason to keep Fifa using the same PS2 engine is the monkeys that play on 2002 PCs. They still see quite good profits from them every year, and if they were to update, not as many would be able to run the games. Smile

What Leo says makes sense. We need to find these suckers and teach them how to pirate these shitty games and not fucking PAY for them. Fucking noobs. Laughing

I only buy good games (for the PC), like ME1 ... errm, don't remember any else right now. Oh, I got online keys for CoD:MW1 and ArmA2, don't know if the devs got my moneyz, though, lol

This is a right point, in fact Fifa PC still obtains a positive feedback from the South American market, as well as from all the other less technology advanced countries Smile

According to IGN's E3 2010 games list there will be a FIFA 11 for PC, while the PS2 version for the first time won't be released. Also the producer of FIFA 10 PC, Luke Didd, doesn't work for EA anymore. Are these good news? It's definitely too early to say it..

Now I realise why there isn't a World Cup version for the PC because of http://fifa-online.easports.com/web/beta/home.

A free to play MMO with World Cup mode, club/season ,multiplayer etc etc.

I've always been more of a PES fan, but for a free MMO FIFA online isn't too shabby at all; especially as you can use the XBOX 360 controller.

Agreed, but PES isn't exactly pulling up any trees atm, so IMO for a free game it's not too bad; although I wasn't aware the game had been running for 3 years.

I've not played FIFA for years, or indeed PES for a while up until recently and I'm done with Football Manager as I can't bear to stare at the player stats any longer Smile

I haven't either. PES is crap, and FIFA is even worse. I'm waiting for them to eventually port the 360/PS3 versions just in time for Xbox 720/PS4 to release with FIFA VR 2012 Rolling Eyes
