Brilliant, the release is legit.. Just tested it for 5 minutes.. With everything almost maxed out it's a lot smoother than Clear Sky. In fact, I couldn't notice any frame drops below 60fps (I didn't measure with fraps but I usually notice frame drops).

Game wouldn't even load with the crack for me, so what i did was put the original exe back, got the mini image for the russian version, mounted that, cloaked with yasu, game runs fine now.

WOW...It's true...this game is embodyment of stability. It only crashed twice in the first 5 minutes. Once in the menu while choosing the graphics settings (it seems you shouldn't do that) and a second time after watching the long ass (and pretty innacurate cutscene).
I understand vodka is pretty cheap these days but when the english narrator says a year while the subtitles says otherwise it hits you:
STALKER will remain the thing that it tries to describe.... a excluded zone full of unpredictable and ever changing anomalies/bugs.
I really hope it's the crack or something but at the current rate I'm not gonna touch this thing anytime soon.
PS: Words like..."I want the bugs to disappear." or "May the bugs take you" come to mind.

The game works just fine for me with retail version, haven't had a single crash in the hours I've played it.
I'm using Core i7 920@4ghz, Radeon 5970 driver 10.1, 12gb of DDR3 ram at 2000mhz and Windows 7 x64
Everything maxed out at 1920x1200, vsync enabled.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll try that... and see what happens.
From what I've read until now it seems the game is a big improvement over the last games so maybe I'm letting my crack experience get the better of me.

Which version of YASU, Daemon-Tools are you guys using? Tried with the latest YASU(GCW) and Daemon-Tools Lite -> doesn't work.

im using yasu 1.6.9040, DT pro 4.35, sptd 1.6
also can you sleep or accelerate time? its midnight and im scared to go outside in the dark.

That was a problem with the original game, something with the working directory. Either launch it directly, or launch it from a shortcut or something, I don't remember exactly.
Launch it differently from what you're doing now, lol.

game runs smoooooth.. Core2 Duo CPU E8500 @ 3.16GHz ,NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250,
4 Gig RAM, WIN7 x64
but wow my gfx card fan kicks up when playing!

good advice, used the launcher instead. strange though, the previous 2 games worked fine with direct shortcuts

acutally you have to create a bat file (use notepad) , name it whatever you like and it should cotain only this line
start bin\xrengine
it worked for me |

always had problems with stalker games. hard to get into them.so depressing. finished and enjoyed the 2 previous games .
im not in the mood for it. gonna wait for bioshock 2.

cant beliieve u guys bother with this game.. xray is the worst shit engine ever, at least coded it looks good maxes sure but damn so much instability even if u buy the game or not doesnt matter.. even the devs cant help u with problems they coded a massive engine that they cant evengive support to.
